    Default Hi!

    Hi everyone!

My name is Lolita, Im 18 years old, from Sweden. I have been lurking around here for a while. To become a stripper has always been my dream, and Im about to pursue it! We dont have any good clubs in Scandinavia though, so Im thinking about traveling to England and working there during the summer, any info regarding Uk clubs would be great!!!

    Hej Lolita,

I'm from the UK, and I guess one reason I'm replying is that I've become quite good friends with a Swedish dancer.

Firstly, you'll find the culture in the UK is slightly different from Sweden. To give a trivial example; it took me a little time to find out that many Swedish girls hug their friends, rather than expect a kiss on the cheek, (as we do in the UK).

Perhaps more importantly, my dancer friend sometimes complains to me that English guys are somewhat louder and less well mannered than Swedish blokes. She's not a great fan. Guess you'll have to make up your own mind on that.

There are four distinct ways of earning a living as a dancer in the UK; in strip pubs, strip clubs, private parties and stag shows.

Strip pubs are bars where you collect money in a glass before every dance - you might expect every guy in the bar to put in £1. There are also private dances, (typically £10 - £20), where you dance on a one-to-one basis for a guy.

Strip clubs are chains like For Your Eyes Only, Spearmint Rhino, etc. There should be plenty of info on the web about these.

Private parties are just that - privately arranged strip evenings, not always with the appropriate licence. The degree of contact between you and the customer can range from low to high depnding on the venue. You have to become estsablished as a dancer to be invited to perform at these.

Stag shows are stronger, (normally legally arranged), shows which are ticket only. You would expect to use toys and have a fair bit of contact with the audience in these - not to everyone's taste.

What can you earn? Depends on the number of shifts you work, and the degree of contact you can accept. Anything from £500 a week upwards to considerably more if you do the private parties/stags.

Best place is the London area - there are more places to work than the rest of the UK has. Unfortunately it's expensive to live in london, so the £500 might not go as far as you hope.

Don't know much about the clubs, cos I don't go into them, but a good agency to contact about pub stripping is the Entertease Agency: www.entertease.com It's run by Janice O'Halloran, and she treats the dancers on her books decently. Unfortunately, Janice is a bit in and out of hospital at the moment, so you might not get a prompt reply.

    Hoping this is of help...

    Hejda,

    Phil.

    Hi Phil!
Thankyou so much for taking your time to reply! Your post was really helpful!
Im thinking about dancing in Bournemouth, beacuse of the many tourists that come there in the summer, plus the living is not that expensive! The only prob. is that there isnt that many clubs there so if I dont feel comfortable in one of them i only have one other option. .

Im a little nervous going all by myself though, but hopefully it will be fine. . .

Were from Sweden does your friend come from? just curious

Lolita, I don't know anything about Bournemouth clubs so can't help you there.

You need to think carefully about the type of venue where you are going to work. Strip pubs are jug collection - in other words you walk around and collect £1 coins in a jug before each dance. You've got a certain income before you try to get private dances.

Lap dance clubs you rely more on private dances. That means you've got to be confident in having a conversation with a guy you've only just met, and whose standard of behaviour can vary considerably. Some guys are nice; some can be arseholes.

Think carefully about how confident you are as a person with strangers - it may well determine the places you are most comfortable working. If you love chatting the Lap Dance clubs will be OK for you - if you don't like chatting, I'd consider pub work.

^^^ Also, how good is your English?

Do you have a friend who can come over with you? It can be very lonely in a strange country.

What I'd also suggest is you think about coming over for a week and stay in a hotel. If you contact the club before you come over, you can try dancing for a few days before you make your mind up.

Becoming a dancer might be your dream, but you need to make sure you understand the reality as well - most dancers end up upset at intervals by idiot punters they meet and you need to be sure you can handle it.

Finally, I'd suggest you post in the Newbie section to see if anyone can give you advice there. There are some UK dancers who post on this board who might be able to help. I'm a guy, not a dancer, so I can't help you from direct experience.
