    Default Clear shoes tearing.

Hey all. Just a quick question.

I have had a pair of Ellies for just under 6 months, and the other night at work, I noticed that they're starting to tear along the top strap where it joins the sole (in the pigskin suede) of the shoe.

I'm not really a *high octane* dancer, I do some pole tricks, but really, nothing to vigourous. But I now need to buy some new shoes, so when they *do* fully rip I"m not left shoeless!

I want to buy clear shoes so they go with everything, but I don't want the same thing to happen in another 6 months. So actually, it turns out I have two questions:

    a) Have any of you had this problem as well?

    and

    b) Is there a certain style of clear shoe that is less likely to tear?

    Thanks guys!

Clear shoes sadly are made to wear out quickly... when I used to wear shoes I went through a pair every other month... they stretch and tear... guess thats why they're so cheap...

6 months is a pretty long time- I can't get a pair to last that long, of any brand or type.

The clear shoes do tend to tear, but is it possible you need a bigger size? I relaized I needed a bigger size in Ellie and Pleaser than I do in 'normal' shoes when they kept ripping along the toes. The bigger size last me a LOT longer than the old ones did.

Really wow! I bought my clear shoes from Krystels.biz and I've had them for 5 months now. They are still going strong. The only thing I had to do was re-super glue the bottom.

Also, do slide in clear shoes give out on you in a month or the ones with the ankle straps?? I don't wear ankle straps.

Yup, same here. I bought 5 pairs with clear tops/colored bottoms from Krystels and they've held up amazingly well.

The ones without ankle straps are the ones I went through really quick.. .keep in mind though a pair of knee high boots are done with me in about 4 months. But I also work a lot of 12 hours shifts that require about 5 20 min stage shows.. and im a fast dancer up and down the pole... so im kinda tough on footwear for work

I was gonna say super glue....Ck you beat me to it. I would just give in and buy a new pair. I got the same ones from for under $29. Might be a little more but its worth it to invest in new shoes every few months..your feet will love you. Or get 2 pairs and wear them off and on so you dont wear them out as much.
Ive always worn Pleasures but I tried Ellies this time. Pleasures have always been good to me.

I would superglue but for *where* they're tearing, it wld be almost impossible to fix them so they stayed.

To those of you who have had longevity from the clear-ies, which sort did you have (lin/pic would be cool )

And I think the ones with the ropelike plastic parts over the foot (there's four of them) would maybe last longer, my housemate has those, and she's damn rough on her shoes.

I have these , my housemate has the the ropey ones i was talking about , which look like they'd be a bit more durable.

    Opinions?

did you stretch them before you wore them?

get a hair dryer and heat the plastic up-then when its supple ram your foot in to stretch and mold the plastic.
i do this everytime i get a new pair of shoes, and have YET to break a pair of TONY brand ones. i only wear the ones without ankle straps too....and treat my shoes like crap! lol i do this weird thing where i stand on my outer ankle (roll my foot horizontal to the floor) when talking to customers too. still, they never break.

I heard (but haven't tried) that swimming pool repair glue fixes clear shoes. I've used clear duct tape in emergancies, but it's not exactly high class.

Scarlett_Vancouver and MermaidNZ, the shoes aren't (or weren't when I bought them) too big for me, in fact, if they were any bigger the arch would be in completely the wrong spot and they'd be really uncomfortable. Also, they'd be prone to flying off my foot and into some customer's head. (Not always a bad thing...)

Uh...also the thing to remember is that I have to ship them to Australia, and most prices are in US dollars...

And if they're cheap in the states, well...I'm jealous. Do you guys know how much they retail for over here? (Reason why I buy them online) They're priced anywhere from $100-$200 and up. Eek!

So...cheapish would be good, so I don't pay too much incliding shipping.
