So last night two couples and a few of their friends come in. No problem! I fully support sharing the love if everyone's into it and following basic etiquette. I notice them while walking by and smile, later run into the girls in the bathroom, everyone was perfectly nice. About half an hour, maybe 45 minutes later, I'm walking by the stage, and these girls are giving their boyfriends some extremely energetic lap dances (fully clothed), right at the rail. Their chairs are pushed back a bit, but they're still right there, dancer onstage trying to cope with it, but all the attention around the stage is clearly on them. The DJ joked "Yes, we do have applications at the front desk," which was a fair enough joke to make - what else was he gonna say - but it got the crowd riled up even more.
Now, this was a somewhat slow night, but it wasn't dead. That space could have been taken up by tipping customers. And if the crowd is in a really rowdy mood and the female customers are feeling wild, I could see doing this for a minute or two just as a lark, but this was going on for at LEAST two songs. I felt like I ought to do something, especially out of loyalty to the poor ignored dancer onstage, but couldn't think of a thing, at least not without being a total buzzkill.
Has this come up at other clubs? What can you do, if anything?
(I did a quick scan to see if there's an existing thread about this & couldn't find one, sorry if this has been covered.)

I was at a different club from the one I work with, with some friends. I had just told one of the girls -- my friend's new girlfriend -- that I was a dancer, and she was still kind of wigging out about it, though in a "oohh that's so cool way" rather than a "oooh you're a dirty whore" way. This was also the first time she'd been in a strip club, and she was really excited about it. I was egging her on to get a lap dance and she wanted me to "break her in" first, so I gave her a few seconds of grind. However, I did keep my top on, and ended up talking her and her boyfriend into buying dances, so the love was shared. What I hate is girls who seem like they're competing with dancers. If you wanna play stripper so bad, just fill out a damn application and come to work. That whole "strip for your lover" thing is for AT HOME, ladies.
). But there's a big difference between that and what was going on last night. When I first caught a glimpse of it, I was amused, and tried to think how I could work that angle. Maybe I'll drop by after they dismount and compliment them, or just comment on what a good time they're having - but I never got a chance. It just went on and on and on!
