Interesting about the belly going flat. I eat a lot of dairy and the only place I gain is in my belly. I'm 5'3" and 112 looking to lose a little and even with exercise I can't get my belly totally flat.

What about low fat cottage cheese or fat free yogurt?

I dunno. I've been dairy free for eight months or so, and I still have a little stomach. It's the hardest thing for me to lose (my legs and ass get small and toned, but my damn stomach and waist...it's just my build I think- little 33 inch hips, and hard to make the waist as small comparatively).

mmmm i dont know about low fats ,....but i think is a matter of enzhymes contained in the dairy foods.....
try not to eat none for a week and then try a week with the low fats see if u notice any difference

diary products are also sooo bad for with acne-prone skins...i've cut out milk and yogurt (i still eat cheese sometimes) and my skin has looked sooo much better

Sooooo true. Dairy products do make you fat. That farce of an ad on TV saying to drink 24 ounces of milk a day to lose weight is a crock of shit, and is of course sponsored by the Dairy Association.
As far as low fat or fat free anything, those products are scams too as they are laced with chemicals and sugars that actually make you gain weight. They should totally be avoided.
Eat all fresh fruits and veggies and limit your cheese intake, drink skim and you'll lose your fat as well as cutting out ALL, yes, ALL sugar, this includes white flour, whole grains only and cut out the sugar. I lost a lot of weight two years ago and have kept it all off... I eat only protein, fruits veggies and I eat cheese, but in small portions I eat absolutely no sugar whatsoever. Sugar is the main cause of fat.

Wow Gynger, you impress me so much! I wish I had, like 1/4th your willpower! I hate the gym, you might as well kick me. But I love sugar! and chocolate, and fresh breads, and milk.......... ok. i love food!Originally Posted by Gynger

Besides, my dr. says I'll prob be diabetic someday, and while I know getting rid of simple sugars and such will put it off, it's bound to happen some day! So carpe noctem, I'll have some whipped cream on that...
Wow. I just read all that... exams are over, so my brain is rebelling against all forms of logical progression/thought/intelligence!

I drink organic non-fat to low fat milk (they run out of non-fat fast!) I eat a lot of cheese, but on sandwhiches, not pizza or fast food... If you are going to cut out all that dairy. Make sure you are getting your calcium from somewhere else!
I know we all want to look great ladies, but we need to stay healthy too. It matters in the long run.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..
Rats! I really like my fat free cottage cheese too.....Originally Posted by Tina

i'm a vegetarian so i rely on dairy products along with lagumes for my protein, so i was wondering if you think it would be bad for me personally to cut out dairy? hmm.
Sugar is horrible on my system, I didn't realize how bad it was until I started cutting it out, not all people have the reaction that I do.. I eat any kind of refined sugar and I literally fall asleep, I wake up exhausted, thirsty and feel like major shit... I started cutting sugar out when I started getting tired of feeling so crappy all the time... now, if I so much as have a single hershey's kiss, I'm zonked out... but, I can eat an apple, or an orange and I'm fine... I have found that unsweetened baker's chocolate is the bomb though... I love that stuff... gotta get my chocolate fix somehow!

Gynger, another good chocolate fix--the absolute BEST--is Scharffen-berger dark chocolate (71% or above is all they make--I go for the 80%s). One small square rolled around in my mouth is enough to cure my chocolate craving for days. Almost no sugar, and very few calories given it's chocolate. It's one of the best chocolates in the world, and I highly recommend a plant tour to any of you Northern Cali girls (it's in Berkely, and i got to go when was visiting San Francisco last year). YUM!!!

for vegetarians u can use tofu s proteins ... dairy comes from animals anyway...so do eggs , u could use eggs ..also proteins are contained in beans lentils soy milk
