How long do you take to tell someone new what you do for a living? I think mine is 6 months to a year. I don't want them to spread the info around... But I don't want to take so long that they feel they're lied to when it DOES come out.

If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
wow! i tell anyone the second they ask. might as well get any issues they have about it out of the way as soon as possible. im like that with everything tho. too upfront for my own good. i wish i could keep secrets....

My thing is - if I'm ashamed to do something, should I be doing it? I'm a STRIPPER. WOO STRIPPER WOO. And I'll tell anybody thank you.![]()
I would automatically assume you were a stripper if you didn't tell me what you did for 6 months. I say it right off the bat. I don't care and neither should you if you're my friend.
I obviously don't tell everybody that asks. Sometimes it's none of their business.
Bump.
Sorry. But I really want to hear what everyone has to say.

im proud of being a dancer...i love my job! the only people i wont tell is my family or anyone that would tell somone in my family...but they live 3 hours away, so i dont worry about it too much. but as far as meeting people and them asking me what i do, im proud to say what i do! if they look down on me for it, its their loss.
A good friend of mine does topless bartending and stripping at private parties .... it's kinda unspoken amongst our group of friends. She has a office job during the day b/c she doesn't want to make a big deal. Not so much b/c she's ashamed, but she just doesn't want it to be an 'issue'. You never know when people will create drama, and she just doesn't want to provoke it.
I knew right when I met her, b/c the mutual friend we had that introduced us had told me ahead of time. (We were going out dancing and for some reason she felt it'd be better if I knew ....I have no clue why though, since I'm as opened-minded as it gets as far as that goes....)

The only time I do not say I am a stripper or a similiar title for what I do for a living is to complete strangers. A good example recently.. I was in a bank line/queue to deposit some $$... the guy in front of me (older.. much older) decided to ask me what I do for a living as he was going to use what I did for a living as a way to show as an example about good customer service etc (he was having a whinge about waiting for so long due to the limited no. of bank tellers working at that point in time)... so I told him a nightclub in Surfers. Yes it is a total lie however I didn't need everyone knowing at that point in time what I personally did for a living.
Tho' I did find it a little humourous as I wonder what he would've said if I did tell him I was a stripper. hmm....
None-the-less, if you want to be my friend.. you will accept and support me in what I do even if you personally do not agree with it.. as that is what a friend is to me. I'd do the same for them.

ok, even though I quit dancing, I do still get asked about what I USED to do. At this point, I am very careful and choosy with who I tell, even somebody I consider my friend. Typically I tend to be evasive like, oh I worked for my parents then I worked for a casino. Which is TRUE, but I'm leaving alot out.
My own little stalker boy? Well, he started off as my friend and I thought I could trust him. nope. Ironically, my friend I brought with me to file the report, that's how she "found out" But I didn't care at that point. And she's been great I feel kinda bad about "lying" to her I'm glad she's my friend. WHat is my point? I don't know, I'm medicated right now. sorry. *embarrassed*
too blessed to be stressed
