    Default Tampon Advice.

Ladies, I need quick answers, as my husband needs the info. I need to know the best tampon for really heavy flows. And I'm prone to leaking, I think I need a wider tampon as opposed to a long one....er does that make sense? I am sooooo miserable right now, taking too much max strength midol and still no relief!

My wife has very heavy flow, she uses Tampax w/ green label (labelled for heavy flow).

Thanks. but unfortunately I think they expand length wise, and obviously that doing nothing for me :S Was it OB that someone said expanded width wise? More info anyone?

Tampax sucks. Use OB...Ultra. It's shorter so if fits up a little higher and it's "fatter" and opens up differently than Tampax. I used Tampax and it always leaked. I've never had a problem with OB.

I second O.B. Never had any leakage/slippage and I've been using them since age 13.

OB is also my fav, the only one that I don't get leaks with. They are also the only ones that are comfortable for me to take out.

You should try one of these!

They're an alternative to tampons. I have a super heavy flow, used to bleed through a super tampon in under an hour, but these hold much more. On my first day I usually empty it out every three hours or so, after that I can leave it in for 8-12 hours with no problems. I never have leakage problems except a couple times when I forgot to empty it and it overflowed, but that's only happened two or three times out of ten years that I've been using it. These are wider than a tampon, and they create a little bit of suction, so under normal circumstances the blood won't escape.

I use the Kotex ones- I think they're a little wider than Tampax or Playtex. I'll have to look into OB though since so many people are recommending them.

I know I'm going to have a couple ladies recommend alternatives, but right now, I'm only looking for tampon advice at the moment

the divacup is the best for heavy flow imo.... it's like the mooncup. you can get it at the lunapads website.

if you want to use traditional tampons, though, use ob. the silk ease kind is great, but i'm not sure if they make it in the heavier absorbencies.

o.b is the best imo... my period is super heavy the first two days... like changing a super tampon every hour or less... o.b lasts a bit longer and no leaks.

^^^Me too, that's why nothing else really wored for me. I got o.b. super and some ultras. I love the no applicator system. And they seem to hurt less and come out easier than anything else I've tried.

A different route: I've been on Microgestin birth control pills and haven't had a period for 9 months. I've been to the doctor and they've said I'm fine, that it's just from the pill. I had some spotting one month... I know pills affect women differently, so I'm not recommending mine for everyone, but I sure have saved $ on tampons this year. There's also that pill, I've only heard of on TV, where you only have a period every 3 months.

OB is great! I have probably tried them all, lmao!

At times when the flow gets lighter (like towards the end of your period) i switch to Kotex...Damn if that OB is hard to get out if it's not 'wet' enough.
