Default called a club, got bad vibes.

Hi, i need some opinions. I called this club that a friend recommended to me, I was very polite and asked for the manager. The girl that answered thew phone was not so friendly. It took him a couple of minutes to get to the phone. When he did, i said" hi, how are you?" in afriendly voice. He blatentley responded a "good". I then proceeded to tell him that me and my friend were coming up and would like to dance there for a night or two, and asked if he accepted new dancers. He told me that we would have to stay and dance for 4 nights minimum. I asked him if there was a certain night i should come he said no were open everyday at 3.I then asked what the tip out was and he didnt seem to understand what i meant. So i said how much do you have to pay to dance there? He blurted out something like we dont pay the dancers or dancers dont pay, something like that. Then i wasnt understanding him. He just seemed to be bothered that i was calling to ask him . He didnt seem to interested and wasn't very nice to talk to. This makes me turned off a little bit about goin there. has anyone ever felt like this?am i obligated to stay for 4 nights? are there usually rude people working in the clubs.

Where was this club? I have yet to hear positive things about clubs in NB or NS... I grew up in New Brunswick and was going to dance when I went home for xmas but I was told by a lot of girls to avoid the clubs there... if your close enough to the nfld ferry you might want to get your feet wet there, i've heard better things about those clubs.

Some clubs do have a min amount of shifts you have to work though.. like my club is a min of 3 shifts... but honestly the vibe you got from the manager for th at club is a bad one, go with your gut and avoid it because they dont sound to welcoming to new dancers.

Eh, it's not unusual... at least for me. I don't know if they're busy or don't have good phone skills or they're used to getting a lot of stupid phone calls... They're usually a lot nicer when you go in person.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Yeah, you might have called at a busy time. It's best to come in in person to check out the club.

Try calling about an hour after they open? Its usually fairly slow and they have everyone settled into their shift.

Agree with the other ladies. I can only imagine how many calls clubs get, and ladies never show up. It would be nice to call for a good time to come in and leave it at that. Other than that go into the clubs and ask questions. You seem much more serious!

I've had a problem with a manager or owner giving me an attitude when i would call to find out information regarding dress code, auditons, etc. I would just hang up with them and don't bother. But i will try and call back a week or so later!!! ( To see if his attitude approved)

Yes NEVER call a club to ask questions. You should always go in as a customer well dressed, with a male escort if needed, have a drink or two, observe the club and the floor momentum, ask the waitress who the manager is, and then approach the manager with your questions.

NEVER tell a club manager you only want to work a few days. They may not want to bother with your hiring paperwork.

Managers get tired of dancers for various reasons. His response is not out of the ordinary.

I've called many clubs to ask then about their policy for freelancers and have had very polite answers. I ususally call when I know its not going to be a busy time, ask what I need to dance there(be it license or what type of ID) what their dress code is and their fees. Sometimes its just to far of a travel to find out those simple things, and its a waste of time to go all that way and be told they are not hiring.

Thanks cally for the reasurrance about the bad vibes i thought i was getting. I did actually call at a good time, it was about 4 oclock and he said they opened at 3 so i idnt think it would be a bad time. The club was in N.B. and i know that i have heard not so good things about the clubs up there, but it's a good location for me just to try it out. And yes i am gonna be doing the freelance dancing thing. Idid call another club up there though and the manager was really easy to talk to. He even said that he would have accomodations for us to stay the night. but someone had told me not to go there because it wasnt the cleanest club. But i think if i go and just mind my own business and do my thing that i will be fine. If i really get into the dancing thing i will check out NFLD. later on down the road. thanks for all your responses, you guys really support each other and boost each others confidence. Bye for now.

Im guessing the other one your trying is in Moncton? Be very careful dancing in NB, they're laws are very grey so a lot of stuff happens that shouldnt. Dont let yourself fall into the 'I need to give a BJ to make money off this guy' frame of mind. From what i've been told its very much like that now. Go in, do your thing and leave. Dont get caught up with the girls that dance there. Let me know what club it is(if you would rather pm thats fine) im going back to NB the end of June to visit a friend and was thinking of peeking into a club to see what its really like. Everything im telling you has just been from word of mouth from girls I know that have tried dancing there. Good luck

Well i know that may be the situation up there, but i think if i just do my own thing everything should be alright. If i see something going on i'll just stay away from it,i dont plan on dancing there all the time. I am a happily tied down woman with a 2 year old little girl and i have a very strong mind. I would never give a guy a bj for money. Anyways thanks for the warning i can see how some girls would get tied into all that. I'll let you know how it goes and hopefully i dont have any problems.
