Lipo is a fat issue not an issue of bloating what is water retension and shit. I detoxify. I drink detox tea take psyllium husk root and benedine clay to keep my colon cleansed and flushed. I'm going to get it done after I heal from my lipo. i have to call my sexy dr about that.

I also wasn't told that "tipoplasty" was a seperate procedure...that's what I want done, but not a priority.

Well... Basically i went to an ent and he fixed my deviated septum and i gave him a cosmetic fee for taking off a slight bump in my nose due to breaking it when i was 14. He did an ok job with taking the bump down (not perfect) but now that the bump is fixed the top of my nose looks thicker to me. I want to narrow that a little and shorten the length of my nose possibly. The doc I am seeing is in Miami and i have already sent him pics. He has digital imaging, something I will need before i decide 100 percent what i want done.

it's funny though.. He fixed the tip of my nose when i went under because it wasn't perfectly alligned with the rest of my features. It threw me for a loop. I looked so much differen't afterward and I never really thought in a good way until i looked at an old license picture a couple of days ago.
But now that he fixed the tip when i look sideways at my nose it looks a little off.

I guess it is true that nothing will ever be perfect. THIS IS MY LAST NOSE SURGERY (2nd) though so i am sure i found a quality doctor this time.

I wish i could have that problem (I'd just do 200 crunches a day-no sweat) but all my fat likes to go to my outer thigh & lovehandle (side of lower back) area

Just do more cardio & ab exercises. Easy.

It's actually not a myth otherwise I would've never had flat hard abs all the time when I was younger. I'd always suck in my stomach & flex it to look skinnier & i never did situps.

I have never heard about that kind of lipo that Dasha mentioned. I had regular lipo and though im still way smaller, I do need a tiny touch-up. I will look into it.

I have had lipo all ways. This last time 3 weeks ago was serious work. Lipo is great. I definitly see changes in my body and it's almost 3 weeks. Swelling is a huge part of liposuction. If you retain lots of water be prepared.
Touch up lipo is fun. I'm sure in 6 months I will need it. Getting lipo is my job or one of them i should say.

i should have been more clear because i think we are arguing the same point here. i didn't mean to imply one should constantly keep their abdominal muscles tense, just that it is important to always be aware of one's posture and compressing the diaphram to push the air out upon exhaling rather than sucking your "gut" in while inhaling.

you're absolutely right, constant muscle tension is not effective.

I have sinus troubles all the time. I take claritn D every day, and I still can't breath right, and the sinus headaches are the worst. I'm assumeing that I have the same problem. How bad was your surgery, and what made you choose that method instead of the "baloon" method? How was recovery time, etc?

It sounds like it could be scar tissue. I can see my nose isn't completely straight and even and there is a little more scar tissue in one spot. Depending on the angle you look at it it is uneven, but the more you keep operating on your nose the closer you get to looking a little too overdone and then you can't go back.

I've been wanting lipo for a while but beside not having the money I am just not sure I'll be happy with the results. I'm still thinking about it though. I know someone who had it and gained back fat in places she never had it before. I am not perfect about my eating but I am working out a lot and eating well and gaining muscle but there are parts of my body (my thighs) that just won't budge. I feel so out of proportion and I hate it but I don't want to end up shapless either and a lot of lipo pics I see they seem to just straighten out the girl's body and it doesn't look better to me.

i would get liposuction at any piont of my life if i have to. i don't bad. sometimes my metabolism can be off and make me gain a little weight. Lipo is not for people that gain and loose 20-30 pounds. Everyone goes up and down 5-10 pounds. (we get our periods)
i love it and i wuold get it done again if i had to. liposuction is not for fat people. it's for people that have fat pockets in certian areas but are basically thin or in shape people. i just want to get ripped. lipo won't make you in shape. it just takes away unwanted fat.

Hey Dasha, I know this might be going way off topic. But I just had lipo done on my abdomen on three days ago. The surgeon said he took out 2,000 ccs fat, which is a lot for the abdomen. The area is still very bloated and swollen, i was just wondering how long it took for the swelling in the areas you liposuctioned to go down. Right now, I absolutely hate how I look, and i am eager for the swelling to go down, the surgeon says it might take months, but maybe i'm too eager cuz I'm getting a bit depressed. Also, do you have a recommendations on the healing process, any tips that made the process a bit better for you, or helped you achieve better cosmetic results. Thanks for any replies.

I bust my ass in the gym and do pilates and usually eat what my trainer tells me and my thighs won't budge. I think I'm a good candidate for lipo but I'm still not sure I'll be happy with the results. I mean it's just fat. I ought to be able to lose it, but my body just won't let go.

ck, I'm busting my ass with these weights on arms, legs, you name it! I have a trainer so she's trying to get me there. Tomorrow she's probably going to make me do about a million lunges. I keep hoping that if I build up enough muscle the muscle will stretch out under the squishy part of my ass and make me look more firm. What it seems like though is my thighs are getting bigger with muscle but there is still fat so I just feel bigger all over. I wish I could just stop eating or something.

UGH!! I can so relate to what some of you have said on this thread!! I'm only 5'3" and I weigh about 160lbs.

Now before anyone gasps in shock......

I take a kickboxing class 3 days a week, 2 days a week I take a powertone class(it's a strength training class with bands...kind like the billy blanks ones) ....and then 1 day a week I take a Pole dancing class(and soon a booty shaking class to follow!)

Soo..ok I'm working out 6 days a week AND most of those days I watch what I eat...course two of those days I kinda eat what I want...but still I don't pig out or anything. Regardless of all this I am not losing any weight. Granted when I first started working out two years ago I lost 45lbs in about 8 months... but now..I can't lose anything.
I know that I have gained a LOT of muscle..and I am happy with a lot of changes I've made in my body BUT........... I still hate my stomach..it seems like no matter what I do it's still there!! Some days it really depresses me and I will kinda eat bad because I feel like it doesn't matter what I do. I know this is unhealthy but I've tried lots of things..... I even competed in one of those ultimate body courses.................. I worked out 6 days a week, drank a gallon of water a day, and ate six small heathly(1 serv car, 1 serv protein, and 1 serv of veggies) type of diet......... I lost 8lbs in 3 months...and lost 4% body fat...but my stomach didn't change at all. However I did win the challenge.... 71 push ups in a minute! whoo hoo!

I really don't know why I'm posting this because I'm not really asking any questions or advice...but.....I'm just sick of my stomach...and I'm sick of hating it.... and I HATE the fact that I take damn good care of myself...and work out a hell of a lot more than anyone else I know and yet..I could still walk down the street and some stranger would think ... "Look at her...she's lazy and fat!"

    Sorry for the rant.........

I don't think Lipo is for lazy people, I am actually very toned everywhere else in my body, I am no where overweight and I do eat healthy and do a lot of choreography dancing to stay fit. I don't lift weights, because I get really muscular everywhere, but my stomach always remains chubby. If I wanted to maintain a flat tummy, I would have to starve myself and workout my abs constantly through the day because the moment I eat something, it goes straight to that area. That's why I did the lipo, so that my stomach would match every where else.

Kittenblue82-how many calories a day are you consuming? You need to burn off more calories than you eat.

On an average day I'd say that I probably eat anywhere from 1,200-1,500 calories. During kickboxing I probably expend AT LEAST 500 calories...powertone is probably a little less since it's not a cardio workout. When I first started losing weight I'd cut my calories WAY back..however after I reached my first plateau....I spoke with a personal trainer and she told me that I'd probably plateaud because my body was needing more calories to keep burning...so I increased to 1,500 and I lost some more weight. BUT now it seems like no matter what I do..increase or decrease I'm stuck. It's not actually the weight that bothers me but the fact that I can't skake this stomach...grr..

At this point in life I know way more than any person should about....calories, body starvation mode, proteins, carbs, hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrups, cardio, strength training, hydrating and not hydrating.....shakes and powders and more........sometimes I teach groups at work on Health... it seems one of those topics that I can go on and on about...mainly because I've spent the last three years CONSUMED by it all.

Fat placement on the body is largely determined by genetics. IF your dna wants you to have skinny little girl arms and a big 'ol booty, that's what you're gonna get. Most women have resistant fat pockets that just wont budge no matter how healthy and trim they are. Hips/thighs and torso are the big offenders. While it's possible to reduce trouble spots (along with everything else!) through diet and exercise, at a certain point you either have to A) accept that you're an individual and as such your body is unique, ie, you are not a barbie doll B) get plastic surgery to achieve the look you want.

If you're exercising like crazy and eating right and you still have a little pooch even though you're wearing a size 4 pants, it's NOT cause you've done something wrong! That's just the way your body is put together. If it's not going anywhere you might as well try and figure out why it drives you nuts ... is it really all that bad? Remeber in the 90's when tiny flat butts were all the rage? I bet the girls packing cute, full, perky bums back then thought they needed to "get in shape".

Personally I always wanted long, thin, waify arms like my modelesque friends... but it's just not in the cards for me. Instead I have petite, curvy, milk white arms that look like the came straight out of a 17th century french oil painting (I tell you those little golden nymphs dont have a straight line on them), and man, they're cute! I may not look as elegant in a cocktail dress, but I've got soft and sensual ... which works for me being 5'3. Hey that rhymes.

Anywho, don't drive yourself crazy trying to delete a body part that just isnt going anywhere - you'll only make yourself more unhappy.

Have you had your health checked? If it's something that is a problem now but wasn't when you were younger it could be a health problem. Some things like poly cystic ovarian syndrome will play havoc with your hormones and your bodys ability to utilise carbohydrates, it causes fat to be stored around the mid section more so than anywhere else in the body regardless of how well you eat, it will also up you cholesterol.
