Default Girls, What Do You Think?

All of us have been wondering where the business has gone in the clubs lately. It's ironic that the clubs are slow everywhere. It's almost as if all men are being told to stay out of strip clubs or go to jail nationwide and beyond. Are restaurants slower, department stores, electronic stores, book stores? Is this inept administration who is running our country making guys feel nervous about spending money frivously, since reality is setting in to more and more people now that Bush and his cronies are scams?

I predicted that many voters who had the wool pulled over their eyes would wake up and panic would start setting in. Could that be the problem we face now with customer spending? Something is up.

If gas prices running $2.75-$3.15 a gallon and interest rate increases are a big part of our problems, coupled with people getting no raises, we are in for big trouble.

NO DANCER OPINIONS HERE PLEASE! I HAVE DELETED MOST OF THE POSTS WHICH DID NOT ARISE FROM ONE OF US HAVING PROBED CUSTOMERS. PLEASE PROBE YOUR CUSTOMERS AND COME BACK TO THIS THREAD AND GIVE THEIR RESPONSES. I DON"T WANT THIS TO BE A REPEAT OF OTHER WHY IS IT SO SLOW THREADS.

    THANKS!

What do you think about all of us probing the guys we talk to every night we work to find out if they are going to strip clubs as much as they used to, and if not why? Then we can post our results here and all of us can then get a feel about what is happening to our industry and why.

    My experience in Australia -

Everyone is telling me it's slowing down here as well. Petrol is 110 a litre... which is about 5 dollars a gallon here!! So it cannot possibly be the gas prices bringing the industry down worldwide, if we've already passed that $3 stage.

And it can't be Mr. President and his cronies because, well, God Save the Queen.

This is -worldwide- and I can speak for that as I've worked in TWO countries in the last year.

You're talking of presidents and democrats and offices and religion in politics. Australia has had the same heirarchy for MANY years... what does that mean on the decline of industry here? Worldwide? Japan is getting worse, too, we've all heard it.

Something is up, and it's not just United States.

    ...but again...what?

At my hotel it has been slower. The front desk clerk says it's a bit slower than last year. The cabbies have bitched and moaned! It was halfway through April before they got happy again and now they feel like rock stars (bike weeks). At work it's been feast and famine depending on the day you work. Last year it was a full week crowd, now it's a weekend crowd. So it's relatively good in towns with tourism. Relatively.

I've got to say that I honestly haven't noticed a slowdown in Vancouver...with that said, we've lost about 10 clubs in the past few years, but that was due to owners selling to profit from real estate prices more than anything. My money hasn't gone down.

one thing that's happened, and which probably has effects beyond national borders, is a big change in multinational corporation 'rules' regarding their employee's use of strip clubs to entertain company customers, to facilitate company business deals etc.

This change stems from two factors - tighter corporate accounting requirements which make it extremely difficult for corporations to 'write off' strip club charges as a legitimate business expense (thanks so much Ken Lay) - and successful discrimination lawsuits brought against corporations by female employees who claimed that they were at a disadvantage because their gender prevented them from using strip clubs to facilitate the same sort of customer relations / business deals that male employees could make (thank you Gloria Allred).

These changes in corporate 'rules' have permanently eliminated strip club expenditures by both the multinational corporation's employees and by their business associates/clients, permanently taking a significant amount of money away from some strip clubs.

Another thing that's happened is that the internet and changing 'societal standards' have now created a situation where guys who are looking for 'fun' can now arrange in advance for a 'private session' with a very beautiful very classy escort in just about every major city in the world. This not only eliminates the 'risk for the customer' of going to / being seen in a public strip club, but it also guarantees that the customer is actually going to find the 'fun' he is seeking.

I'm just curious as to how many men would say they don't go to the clubs as often as years past comapred to those whose attendance remains the same.

Obviously, some men are more strip club hobbyists than others. I think during the mid 90's heydays, many men went to clubs as it was the "in" thing to do and were not really hobbyists, and guys stood around the watercooler talking about who has been to what club.

I think those non hobbyist type of guys may have less desire to go to the clubs compared to the Strip Club Junkie type of guys who enjoy lap dances and strip club hopping just like other guys enjoy a round of golf.

Nowadays the fad is young guys and girls hanging out in a club on weekends instead of going to singles bars.

As far as what Paris says, I guess what we have to ponder is why men don't have respect for women who work in sexually oriented businesses. Why are many men unwilling to relate to us on the same level as they do with other men?

I actually started a thread on the guy's side. Check out the answers they gave. www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64115 Also consider that young guys 25-35 don't make the living wage or have the benefits guys had a generation ago in our stingier low wage economy.

Absolutely--the only reason my biggest clients still use me is that I am really good at what I do, and I proved that to them long before I ever started DJing. I know for a fact it has hurt me with lesser clients.

No way would I tell a brand new, prospective client what my other job is...

The way to get useful information for the purpose of answering the questions raised by this thread might be to phrase them carefully, and in a positive way. If you ask the guy if he is making less money than he used to, ask him as well what his plans are to improve his position, and encourage him. This will take more time than asking him if he is poorer, but won't scare him away, lol--and might even help you if he likes your interest in his plans.

Beware, of course, the Brag factor--all guys love to describe their dreams as reality, and exaggerate them--we all have seen this (though I have seen it as the result of listening to unending second-hand tales of fame and fortune from dancer friends and girlfriends).

As far as the economy being in great shape--sure, for the upper level business types, but the middle and lower classes are without question not doing as well as they used to. The neighborhood clubs and the clubs that blue-collar types go to are being hit with a double whammy of less disposable income, and higher expectations for sexual favors.

Lots more jobs for lower level workers, yes--in the service industry, in the form of part-time work or work with lower benefits, and so forth. Landing a job with ease at McDonalds isn't going to encourage anyone to go get a bunch of lapdances that night, lol...

And when the upper echelon business types are expecting a BJ with that VIP, it makes it much harder on the kind of dancer who wishes to profit while retaining sexual standards. She might still make money, but the stress levels are increased dramatically, and the drop-out rate as well.

Furthermore, the vast majority of women are not going to feel comfortable doing business when their client is having his crotch grabbed. I sure wouldn't go to Le Bare to cement a deal with a female client, and the fact that I have been asked if I am a male dancer (though obviously not of the steroid variety) numerous times doesn't change that a bit. Even if I was one, I wouldn't take a real estate client to one to negotiate a deal.

I do know a woman who does very well in the commercial real estate business, and we discussed this. She was spirited and confident enough to try it, but not only was it unproductive, but she couldn't help but be less than impressed with the dignity of her business associates--more or less obviously drooling all over the dancers.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but that it's quite naturally going to be much more difficult.

As long as there is a racket mentality with the way strip clubs are operated and as long as there is a push by authorities in pretty much every jurisdiction to regulate them in a manner that impedes their ability to be profitable (at least within the boundaries of the law) nothing is going to get better.

A bigger problem is that solving either of those problems is essentially meaningless if you don't also solve the other.

It's ok that you posted on this thread Rlams 2000, as you are a customer. Your feedback is what we want, as to whether you go to clubs as much now as in the past, and if you don't, what causes you to not go so much.
