Default Going 8 Hours at Work Without Eating

Just wondering what you girls do about eating while at work. I usually work anywhere from 8-10 hour shifts and believe me when I get off work I am STARVING. Our club doesn't serve food and I am really not into the processed snack bars and junk food that's easy to bring to work. I want REAL food. Do you girls eat at work or just hold out till you get home? If you do eat at work what kind of food do you bring? It seems as though in my club that the girls hold out for all that time... but I'm an eater!

I eat at work. Do you guys have a fridge or microwave? If so, the choices are limitless. A snack bar is better than nothing. Or any snack.

I usually keep plastic forks in my locker and then bring canned fruits. Just pack a sandwich or two.

Sandwiches, fruit, and string cheese make wonderful snacks.

I always bring something like cheese and crackers with me, fruit salads(or any type of salad) or nutrition bars... healthy snack type food I know how you feel I work anywhere from 8 - 12 hours a shift.

i always bring something to eat, although it is often busy at my club and i forget to eat it. peanut butter sandwiches on whole wheat bread are great. protein, complex carbs and easy to make and bring. fruits are good to. or you could bring protein powder and a shaker. just add water.

it's good to bring something though; it isn't good for your metabolism to go so long without food. especially when you're working hard!

Nuts and string cheese for me; just a little protein will help you along. Those are totally portable, as are apples. I notice I have more energy and am less cranky when I have a little something at work.

We always order food at work- we have a stash of menus from restraunts that deliver, or I bring something in to heat up (we have a fridge and microwave).
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

My stomach is so sensitive lately, I can't really eat at work because it'll bloat like three inches no matter WHAT I eat. I only work 7-8 hours max, but I won't eat three hours before work either. I eat in the morning and when I get home from work. Which is bad, but I don't know what else to do. Dancing fat and uncomfortably bloated is the worst. However, I find drinking a few glasses of cranberry juice throughout the shift keeps the hunger pangs away, and keeps the blood sugar steady enough to get me through. Though I'm gonna start experimenting with keeping arrowroot cookies in my locker.

Stupid me... I never thought about bringing sandwiches... that'll be so much easier and it is definently more like 'food' than snack bars/crackers/chips... etc. Thanks!

I usually bring two 'good' snacks and one 'bad' snack- like an apple, some veggies & dip, and a chocolate bar. They're good for energy, and give you a break when things are lame. You'll be more on your game if you get your energy up. Plus, if your 'bad' food is still there after work, it's a sweet treat after a hard night's work

Bring a lunch box.... I eat something small while I do my make-up and then about 4 or more hours into my shift I come back and get a banana and then drink a protein shake on my way home.... this keeps me from going to IHOP everynight after work.

Couscous is a great ready-to-eat meal-in-a-rush for those, like me, who like hot food.

    - Medium grain couscous (small becomes sticky)
    - Add dried vegetables (available in bulk food places), incl dried onions. Carrots are nice.
    - A bit of salt, pepper, other spices to taste.
    - Maybe a bit of powdered chicken/veggie broth.
    - A bit of olive oil.
    - Garlic powder is a great addition, but obviously not suitable when dancing.

The whole thing in a tupperware, mixed up a bit. You then add about 1-1.5 times by volume hot water (precision doesn't really matter), stir with a fork, cover up for a few minutes, open up, fluff, and you're ready to eat. You don't even need a microwave, just a source of hot water, like a kettle or coffee-unit. It costs virtually nothing, can be prepared quickly and in advance, and if you're using all-dry ingredients (as above), you can store it unrefrigerated (in an air-tight container, else it might pick up humidity and be a problem) for a reasonable time until you're ready to add the hot water.

Essentially a noodles-type of idea, but, in my opinion, nicer, more filling, and with no MSG (unless you go out of your way to add it).

I also like to bring finger type of foods. (Raspberries, grapes, sweet fruits cut up, a banana....) These are super healthy, taste great, and don't make you need a box of mints!

Also, if you have a big spender he might be into being fed.... these are such sexy foods to eat and share. This way, when you're hungry in vip, it's not like you're that lazy bitch who packed her lunch, it's a sexy show! Guy love when I do this, and I don't have to take so many breaks to eat, therefore not making that $$$! (I'm anemic, and I eat every 2-3 hours. doesn't have to be a lot, but a granola bar or an apple).

Georgia, I can forget as well, esp. when the $$$ flows! But make sure to take care of yourself, eating healthy now, among sooooo many other benefits, can lower risks of nutritional/diatary problems later (like my anemia or ulsers/diabetes)

This is probably bad in some ways, but I never eat at work.I eat 2 times a day,the second time being around 2 pm.Then I go to the gym,get ready for work, work, get home and go straight to bed (after taking off make up).The reason for that is that whenever i eat at work I get very lazy afterwords, bloated, don't feel like moving much, and it takes time away from work itself. And if I eat before bed or even go to breakfast with co-workers/friends,in the morning I don't feel as well as going to bed on an empty stomach. This routine works for me,and might not be appropriate for someone else.
But if you guys don't serve food and you feel hungry, just pack a few things to munch on and take with you.Something healthier and lighter, and something that won't take too much time to eat would be best.

I pack a PBJ on whole wheat with organic peanut butter, (regular peanut butter has alot of garbage in it) and a banana. Carbs, protein, fiber, and sugar. Lots of water will help your belly feel full, too.
It keeps me from eating the crap food they serve at my bar or have delivered.

I have a hard time with this too, I always find myself about 4 hours into my shift yelling at our cook, "hey can i have some hotwings??" I have started bringing canned fruit, string cheese, occasionally a sandwich. I also keep a southbeach protein bar (the chocolate kind) in my makeup case. (healthy and tastes like candy) However, our club does serve fruit with cottage cheese, which I order when I'm really hungry.

one thing im happy about working as a dancer now, pretty much you make your own time to take your break. thats the thing i hated most about regular work, you either have a mandated lunch time, that only lasts 15-30 minutes or you have to find another time when somebody can cover you and you take your break whenever that happens. i love that finally i can sit down and actually enjoy lunch when i feel like it. im the only person that i can put the blame on, i think thats what i like about the whole dancing thing
i can only dream of a circus life....

I've discovered I absolutely have to eat sometime during my shift (8 hours) or else my hustle is gone gone gone by the end of the night. It's sometimes hard to tear myself off of the floor to eat (especially when it's a busy night), but it seems to make a definite impact on my money.

If you think that taking the time may be an issue for you (logistically or mentally), pack several snacks you can eat in a hurry - a baggie full of nuts (good fat and protein!), natural fruit leather (if you're not near an organic grocery or co-op, Archer Farms makes some that's just fruit puree and lemon juice; they sell it at Target), natural jerky, a piece of fruit, crackers with peanut/cashew/almond butter spread on them, an energy bar or small piece of candy in case your blood sugar really crashes, that sort of thing.

It's also good to eat some high-protein foods before you go in (lean meat, beans and brown rice, etc.) with complex carbs (if you want carbs) so that your blood sugar doesn't totally crash.

I'm always too busy to eat or even make food, so my saving grace is Slimfast and Luna Bars (they're like Power Bars, but way better).

There is no way I'd be able to dance for 8 hours without food, you girls are machines!!!
