Grrrr.

it amazes me that people are so shameless, capitolizing on such a travesity. it amazes even more that there is enough of market for such films to justify their production. it is one thing to remember the lives that were lost and lessons to be learned; it is quite another to use such events to finance self-indulgent lifestyles...
they should'nt of made that movie, I bet alot of familes are already upset about it. Im disgusted, I saw the trailer of it here in the UK I couldn't believe it!!
How does everyone else feel about it??

Im really torn about the idea of this movie... to make money from something that was such a world wide disaster.... I lost a cousin who I was very close to in 9/11 and I hate the idea that people are banking money off the deaths of peoples family and friends.

I think it's horridly morbid to turn such a thing into entertainment like that.

Why do these producers think that the public wants to see a movie about this when there are numerous documenaries covering the real thing can be found most anywhere?
And as I said in the 'Poseidon' thread on SCJ, I think this is just a bad time to be putting disaster movies out in general, even ones about fictional disasters.
Former SCJ now in rehab.

Man, I just saw a short clip of it on that show "Extra" while eating dinner. I felt like throwing up. It was very depressing to watch. Dejavue(sp?) it was. I didn't lose anyone from 911, but damn I sure as hell felt everyone's grief. Knowing too that it happened so close to home, & watching it live on tv and seeing the buildings' smoke rising through the skyline, when I got out of work. Hearing my poor neighbor screaming at night bc she lost her son. I also live near the airport, I couldn't sleep for about two months just hearing those planes. I just can't imagine how that would be like if I were in anyone who lost a love one's shoe.
Watching it on TV was the most horrifying thing i've ever watched, knowing my cousin was in the WTC that day. When I watched the clip of it I almost threw up because it just reminded me of everything. Why in the name of god would they want to make a movie about that horror.
Cally, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry you have to be confronted with trash like this which keeps bringing up such heartbreaking memories for you. It always makes me sick when greed is the primary motive for capitalizing on such grotesque tragedies as this. Someone's making money here!![]()
wait, judging from that link ,it sounds like its a positive movie about the event....why shouldnt there be movies made? theres movies about rape, murder and other crimes, why not this one too?
i dont see a problem with it, then again, its not something i would bother paying to see either.

I sometimes still have nightmares about 9/11. I dream about that day, and the months after it, living in the city when the city was how it was... with a gaping wound of sorrow, worry, doubt, and fear.
No one deserves to make fucking money on that. No one deserves to act in this, and then possibly win an award? Documentaries, fine. They educate. They show the truth. The real people. NO actor can portray the true emotions of we NYers that day, nor of the people on those planes, nor the pentagon folks, or "Those That Fought Back".... its all crap. Make all the documentaries and biographies and historical stuff you want. You dont need actors for this.

Positive or not, it's far too soon. I know that they worked with the two survivors that the story involves for the movie, and it may be fine for them, but for the families of those who weren't so lucky to survive, it's just going to open up wounds that are still too fresh.Originally Posted by mermaidnz
Hollywood should NOT be making money off of such a horrible thing. Over 3000 people died on 9/11, including children, and there are families that have struggled to go on without them.
It's wrong, and movies like this should be off-limits.

Save this shite for like... a 50th anniversary movie. So generations who DIDNT know this tragedy can learn. Like Pearl Harbour, or somesuch. Jeezy Creezy.

Historically speaking, there were all sorts of Hollywood movies about tragic real events during WW2 and the Korean war. It was only during the Vietnam era that these sort of movies became 'unfashionable'. I for one am glad to see this movie released, if for no other reason than to keep the tragedy of 9/11 in proper perspective in the minds of most Americans.Originally Posted by PaigeDWinter
