In the event that I feel like doing something besides chores this summer, I was thinking about video art. It would not exactly be film, although it would be filmed - think of it as performance art documented on film. Although it would be DV. So it would be documented by digital film. It is not ABOUT exotic dancing, per se, but it would have a lot to do with it - sort of a "pivot" as it were. I don't want to publish details until I have a "team" but I can promise that it is completely uncompromising, except insofar as it would reveal that you are a dancer. I could accomodate one or two people who don't want to show faces, but I think to do that "in general" would communicate a sense of shame that I don't really want. It is video art, not film, so it would be used in festivals etc.; you will definitely never see it on a big screen. I'm not putting out my full proposal/mission statement (I know, I'm bad) because I don't have it yet - I would like to see first if I can get volunteers (we missed funding deadlines, so it is, unfortunately, unpaid) but I will obviously get one to you before we did anything or you committed yourself, and I also promise that you may see and approve the final edit (of you) before anything is done with it. What we are imagining is an "exploration" (and god, how I hate that word) of flesh as canvas and various metaphors for that. Your role would be simple, non acting but highly verbal - that is, you would be expected to speak, but not to recite lines or deal with a script. If anyone would be interested in doing this kind of thing, please respond by PM. This is not any kind of obligation - if after you read our final proposal you think "Ick - no way I want to associated with these people" that's fine, you don't need to justify it or come up with an excuse.
I realize I am breaking the etiquette that I am such a proponent of, by not having a full proposal available, but I promise I will not ask you to do or say anything until I do. But before I start assembling a team, I would like some idea if I can get it off the ground.
