Default I think I got a job!? (UPDATED!)

At Platinum Plus in Greenville, SC as a jello shot girl. I haven't even filled out my application yet and the gentleman wants me to work tomorrow!

I'm super psyched and totally scared at the same time, waiting to skydive was nothing compared to this. I have to wear a skimpy outfit just like the "entertainers", which is what they call the dancers. I get a bucket filled with goodies to drink and walk around selling them for $6.00 and I get to keep $2.00 from each one I sell. I don't even know how many I can sell...

The guy (I was so nervous going in that for the life of me I can't remember his name!) said that usually the shot girls do a little show with each shot sold but I have no idea what that is! The only little show I've seen was a girl in hot pants and a tank top. She had sold a test tube type deal and what she did was straddle the guy, do an oral show with the test tube filled with the shot, then lean over the guy to pour it into his mouth using only her mouth, then she blew it up into the air and caught it as she stood up! It was awesome but I'm not sure that I can do something like that. My coordination sucks.

And what shoes do I wear? I have two pairs of Pleaser 6" shoes, should I wear those or will I get confused with a dancer? The shift is from 7-3am so 8 hours on those shoes is kind of daunting.

Any advice from you fantastic ladies?

First off... congrats on the job

Second... avoid the shoes, trust me your feet and back will never forgive you. Even as a dancer I cant sell shooters in my dancer shoes, tried it, almost died. Wear cute flat sandals that are sexy with a short skirt and low cut top to show off your clevage with a nice push up bra.

The little dance thing can be anything... shimmy your hips, rub the shot over you and giggle then sit on the guys lap and pour the shot in his mouth(or squeeze I should say.. jello shots are hard to do). Depending on the laws in your state you can play this with a little more contact. Talk to the manager first and ask him what you can do and ask him what previous girls have done.

Relax, have a good time and be prepared to get drunk

Thank you so much for the advice, the shoes was really bothering me. I didn't want to wear those for such long shifts at first.
What do you mean by being prepared to get drunk? Why would I get drunk? I'm not a big drinker really?

Well any shooter girl job i've had(and i've had a lot before my dancing time and even during) i've never been able to walk away sober. Unless the laws in your area prohibit it... guys hate doing shots alone and like their shooter girl to do a round with them. So carry a bottle of water with you n be prepared to do a lot of shots. Doing shots with your customers shows your into the party with them and they will tip more and buy more. It makes a huge difference when they see the shooter girl having fun with the customers.

Also... im not encouraging you to get drunk. Untill you know you can handle your self and keep track of your money while drinking dont drink to much. Depending on your club and laws you may be able to have some of the shots made without the alcohol, a lot easier to do with jello shots. Dont go past your comfort zone.

^ I mentioned that. But the thing you have to be careful with is it is actually illegal in a lot of places to charge for an alcoholic drink without the alcohol, and she cant not charge for it because then the club is losing out on money. As I said its best to talk to the manager about it and see whats legal in her area.

You have to go into the club and see for yourself. The shooter girl usually goes on the floor between 8 and 10pm.

Best wishes on your new post.

From a guy's perspective, try to read your crowd. I assume by the existence of your position that your club caters to a younger crowd. Try to assess the crowd and figure out who would be more receptive to your approach. The best is for a shot girl to find a big group and get them behind her/rooting for her. Being a newbie, this may prove to be daunting and you may want to test your skills of influence with smaller crowds.

Best of luck and best wishes.

The thing you have to realise though is for one the customer is going to want to know why her shots are cheaper, then they will clue in they're non alcoholic so they are going to get pissed off that shes not actually drinking and they're paying for her to take non alcoholic shots. Or if they dont catch on they're non alcohlic they will wonder why shes charging them so much more. Trust me i've been through all this before. I was a shooter girl for 2 years. And if they make the non alcholic and she charges full price the club can lose its liquor license because its illegal. All stuff they tell you in bar tending school.

The other thing I ment to tell you... Its harder to do with jello shots but something I learned in Coyote Ugly Nights I wasnt up to drinking I would carry a beer bottle with me, take a shot and 'chase it with beer' you spit the shot into the beer bottle. Its hard to do with jello shots and you will look like a wuss because you cant taste the alcohol in them Im sure you can work something out with your manager... you learn your own ways to prevent getting totally wasted if your not up to it.

The problem with the first two ideas is that the guys will get pissy that she gets cheaper shots, then they will try and talk her into giving them cheap shots saying 'how would the bar know you just didnt do a whole bunch?' she loses out on big money and the guys clue in. The third option is semi do-able if the manager and bartender will agree to it. The other thing she has to worry about though is say she has 20 shots done for herself and some are say blueberry and she runs out of full strength blueberry shots and has a few left of her own the guys are going to wonder why she wont sell them her blueberry shots...

Wow, I'm so sorry that I haven't posted about my first night yet. I have a day job that I didn't want to quit until I was cetain that the shooter girl position was for me. I ended up doing a 8 hour shift there, going for an 8 hour shift at the club, sleeping for 3 hours, going for an 8 hour shift at the day job and then doing a 5 hour shift at the club again.

I HAD A BLAST!!! It was seriously so much fun I can't even really explain it but do the happy dance a little. The floor manager is awesome and patient and sweet and showed me everything and answered all my questions. The other Jello girl was also extremely sweet and let me shadow her for a few of her shots and got customers to buy a few from me. We seperated and she got called to the champagne room and got wasted and went home early but I was fine. I made $113 after tip out to the jello guy (he gets 10% of all money I make after the bar is paid for the shots).

Unfortunately I was so nervous before my shift that I locked my keys in my car and it took $55 to get them out again so all said and done I only really got to take home $58. My feet were killing me even though I only wore 4" heels with a 1/2" platform and my hands were killing me from carrying around a bucket with a thin metal handle. I only had one shot disappear on me during the night and got two others during an attempted stealing when the bachelor in the bachelor party I was giving shots for got called up to the stage. He had two shots hidden behind his back in the seat and forgot about them. I took them back and didn't make a fuss and then when he got back gave him his shot like nothing happened. No biggy but next time I'll speak up about it.

The second night (Saturday night) was a short shift because at midnight the drinks are all collected and liquor can no longer be served. I still made out with $149 after tip out. My feet didn't hurt quite so much because I had wrapped flesh colored bandaids around my pinky toes and I used my money pouch when holding my bucket so my hands were spared a bit of pain too. They still hurt because some of those shots are DAMN hard to open and even two bouncers couldn't open one after three minutes of trying. Finally got it open and sold but geesh, don' they know girls open these things? The jello is sold in syringes and can be impossible to get out sometimes too.

Some dancers were extremely helpful too, either buying shots for themselves or the guys they were with were convinced to buy one for them. I had two dancers the first night even ask for my little dance along with the shot. The second night one dancer repeatedly got whatever guy she was with to buy a shot from me and she'd even come across the room to get me.

Two customers Saturday stuck out from the others. One of them was a fairly younger gentleman that bought repeated shots from me and the other shot girl but when he got ready to leave for the night and only had $7 on him said that he didn't mean to be rude to her but wanted me and sent her to find me so that I could be his last shot and dance. The shots are only $6 and I charged $2 for the dance I gave usually throughout the night but he had tipped me well for the other shots and I was so flattered he got an extra long dance from me to send him on his way.

The second was a gentleman that stayed sitting back in the corner and had refused a shot a few times before. Mostly I check on the customers in the back even if I know they aren't going to get a shot just to make sure they don't need a refresher on their drink or to say hi and make sure I leave them smiling at least. He saw me give a shot to another customer and actually changed his mind and bought a few of his own throughout the night. Just before midnight he bought my last shot from me and said that I was the only girl he'd gotten any sort of dance from the entire night. I don't know for sure if this is true but it made me feel thrilled.

So that was my first two nights and I'm quitting my day job tomorrow or Tuesday!

Congrats!! Im so happy to hear the shooter girl thing is working out Jello shooters are a blast to sell and even better to drink

Lipstick... the Ontario Liquor laws have a lot of loop holes. Just like they say anywhere that serves alcohol must have a kitchen and serve food. Yet how many night clubs have a kitchen? LoL... it varies depending on the type of bar it is.
