    Default Burlesque

There is a burlesque troop hiring in my area but I don't know how burlesque dancers feel about strippers. I think it would be fun to do. Does anyone here do burlesque and stripping? Do you have any conflicts with the two? Am I just being paranoid for no good reason? Any thoughts are welcome.

Sounds very cool. What is the pay scale for this type of performing?

I have a few burlesquers as friends. No conflicts. They often ask me to try out. I mean, there are SOME out there who think they're better than strippers, but that isnt uncommon in any dance form.

This is funny to me because burlesque dancers were once "floozies" that "real dancers" didn't want to get mixed up with! It would be a hoot to me if burlesque dancers today wanted to thumb their noses at strippers.

I am a stripper (at a titty bar, as i lovingly call it), as well as a burlesque dancer. Screw anyone who wants to look down on you for doing EITHER one!

^^^ damn straight. If you like performing, burlesque is a wonderful way to let loose your more creative and fun side, and do things that you couldn't in the club. Or at least not without massively confusing the guys.

I remember watching the Velvet Hammer (an L.A. burlesque troupe) documentary and being highly amused by a derogatory comment its leader made about strippers, especially since I'd worked with her years earlier on a film . . . and then I did a burlesque number after its screening in Austin. hee.

There are some women who work as strippers who also do burlesque, though I'd say the majority these days don't, but are cool with us. Only a few have a bug about it. If you're into the creativity and performance of burlesque I am sure they'll be down with you.

But the money certainly doesn't compare to stripping unless you're Dita von Teese or Catherine D'Lish!

    Hey Dottie Rebel!
I live in Indianapolis too and have always wanted to try burlesque!!! I've been a dancer for four years at a showclub. Is the pay good for this Caberlesque? Definately want to give it a try!
