    Default late night eating

I'm at a new club and my hours have changed. I'm getting home between 3 and 4 am. It seems that I'm starving by the time I get home. I end up eating things I know I shouldn't just beacuse I'm so hungry then I go to bed.
What are some good things I caneat that late at night that will fill me up and that aare good for me. I don't think the pasta alfredo leftovers were the best thing for me last night!

This may sound funny, but i always find that peanuts tend to fill me up. I always eat them when i am craving something, because you dont need to eat much to fill you up either...the good thing about that is you are still getting protien! You can also try a few low fat triscuits with melted cheese on the top, since carbs seem to fill you up as well, and you will aslo be getting your dairy.

Maybe Lean Cusine frozen dinners or protein shakes.

I ALWAYS eat late at night... I barely eat in the morning because i'm so full from the night.

I was watching Oprah, and they had this nutritionist, and he said that people DON'T gain weight from night eating---It's just the extra calories that they're eating that makes them put on pounds. He said as long as you're reasonable throughout the day, late night eating is not bad.

    Don't worry

right, late night eating won't make you gain weight if you watch your total calories for the day, but it's kind of a waste, especially if you find yourself hungry during the day.

The only time I don't find myself hungry is when I'm sleeping, so I cherish that time. But I'm also the type of person that gains weight easily if I don't pay attention to what I put in my mouth.

I have to go to bed with a full belly, otherwise I can't fall asleep. I usually eat a bagel or a bowl of cereal when I get home from work, although I do love to make a quick run through the McDonald's drive through on my way home (bad Madison, bad!).

omelettes or scrambled eggs are good and pretty easy to make. the protein always makes me feel full without eating too much.

The only thing I can think of is to prepare a healthy meal before you leave and warm it up when you get home. I love the chop machine. Makes preparing foods faster, instead of cutting with a knife.

Protein shakes, almonds, protein bars, & fruit salad. Snack on those things while at work. So when you get home eat a little of what you made before you left.

Oh, and those thermal personal lunch bags/boxes are great to put some foods in there to take to work.

I eat a protein bar on my way home. (typically a southbeach diet chocolate one, they are so yummy) If I am still hungry when I get home, I'll eat a lean cuisine or similar frozen meal, or a can of fruit (mandarin oranges, fruit coctail, etc) Or occasionally I hit McDonalds. (shh don't tell anyone )

Why is everyone here so ashamed about late night eating? Stripping is often hard work (physically), and no one wants to go into work with a full distended belly. I absolutely loved hitting IHOP w the girls after work and bullshitting, and I was as trim as ever...embrace your late night munchies!

i usually have a few chips and salsa, or a few bites of pasta.... often i eat a little cottage cheese or eat a half turkey and cheese sandwich on rye.... i mean its not bad to treat yourself to something thats not good for you, but only if you know you can.. by that i mean if you work out enough and eat right during the week you should be ok...

scrambled eggs,, i have been working out and dieting lately,, and i am also like madison,, i cant really get to sleep unless i have food in my tummy... just go for high protien low carbs low fat. i usually cook some scrambled eggs or an omlette with a few veggies and sliced chicken or turkey. also try eating a salad, or even a fruit salad that seemed to be okay too,, just avoid rice, pasta, cereal, bread and fatty foods.

yogurt or yogurt smoothies seem to be filling. A piece of toast with peanut butter and a glass of milk would probably help you fall asleep also.

    Default Soup

I vote for soups! They are soothing, rehydrating (both good if you have had even one drink) and make you get up early next day, because you have to use the facilities. I prefer instant vegetable soups without many additives.

It's best to try and keep your carbs down during periods where you are resting for long periods. This will reduce the amount of energy turning into chubby.

Banana's are a pretty good source of many minerals, peanuts are good high protein and low carb but are high fat.

If you are using lots of energy during the day then you need to put food in! If you are eating sensible and frequently you will be fine......and looking at your pic....fine you are! hahaha

I love fat free light and fit yogurt with a handfull of grapes or strawberries. If you dont feel slightly full in 20 min then have some more fruit apple or something.
I just wait 20 min after eating a little bit of food just to get me full. If Im not I feed again.

If you make a food choice with lettuce, you'll sleep better as it's soporific (induces sleep). So salad is a good choice for that. I like caesar.

I eat whatever my guy makes for me.. He either brings it from work or makes me something when I get home (yes, he's useful).. Last night I had wheat toast with cheese and garlic on it and low fat sausage w/ a no yolk scrambled egg.. I drink at work so I need to eat something.. Those eight hour shifts really rock me and I REFUSE to eat the garbage they serve at work, I work hard to keep my body hard.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

The experts say that eating within 3 hours of bedtime is bad and causes the food to sit in your stomach causing stomach pooches and weight gain. NOTHING is supposed to be eaten during this time period.

That means for most of us, we should not eat anything after around 11-11:30 at night.

My fiancee' always gets on me about my hunger after work and tries to help me take foods in to work to eat sproradically during the night. The problem is sometimes I get full if I eat too much while I work, and I am hungry when I get off work. But I know the real thing we all should do is take our food with us and eat something every few hours. Most of the time I go to work around 5 or 6 and work until 1 or 2. I take a plate of dinner which is meat and a hot vegetable or salad, and a sliced apple or other fruit and maybe some salt free organic chips to eat later. I take a 50 ounce bottle of water and an organic soda. But I still get hungry after work.

I try to just have a cup of herbal caffeine free tea with him at bedtime, but 50% of the time I end up eating something.

It is said that we should all have a big breakfast, and that a big breakfast and no eating 3 hours before bed can cause one to lose weight.

I wish I could stick to the no eating before bed 100% of the time as I know I could probably lose 5-7 pounds doing so.

I know the big problem for us night shift people is that it is bedtime right after we get off work. Rat race 8-5 people don't go to sleep right after work so they can satisfy their hunger at dinner and still have 3 hours before bedtime.

I think it just involves mental conditioning for us to abstain from eating after work and before bed, and waiting until we wake up to have a big nutritious breakfast.

Ugh, don't ask me, I'm horrible! There's a Wendy's right across the street and I always feel like hot, salty fries after working. I bring a trail mix of nuts and dried cranberries and stuff to work so I won't do any worse than fries and an iced tea.
