I hate mine, it's so East coast. lol. I sometimes try to disguise it, but forget. And alot of ppl dig it! Esp. when I was in Cali. Weird. They kept asking me to say the same thing over again, haha.

Me >> "Ey, wadda ya doin'?" <<<<Omg, kill that.

I hear ya. Mine is the same way, although, if you ask me, everyone else has an accent, not me! I'll never lose it though.

You can take the girl outta RI.. But you can't take RI outta the girl.

Haha i get that ALL THE TIME with my British accent. Im so shy to speak in public while in the US because people just stop and stare (in a nice way) or ask me to "say something". People in the US say that they have never heard a black person speak with an english accent now that's weird!

    Seraya.

Hahaha Seraya.. My Soon-To-Be Brother In Law just moved over from England to be with my Sister, and whenever they call, I only want HIM to talk on the phone. Then he gets on and asks what I want to talk about. I just tell him to talk, and I'll listen. LOL

    I <3 British Accents.

I HATE my accent...half Spanish/Latin, half Southern. I took those dialect classes as a kid, it helped a lot, but when I'm tired or mad I forget to clean up my speech. I always enunciate and everything, but that twang I have is irking!! It's really wierd and people sometimes think I'm Jamaican. Most people think it is charming/cute, though.

My boyfriend can sometimes get THE worst "Chi-caw-go" accent....I used to tease him about it and he never believed me until he landed some new clients from out of town and they made fun of him. But when it all comes down to it, I think it's kinda cute. I do like hearing different regional accents though....i can't explain it, but it adds a sense of charm, I guess.

Sometimes people say they hear the New Orleans in my voice which I never thought I had a N.O. accent when I lived there but I guess in Florida it stands out sometimes.

The only accent that really shows up with me is the southern accent. It shows up every once in a while (usually if I'm tired, drinking, excited, etc.), but I don't think I have it all the time.

Kiwi accents usually get mistaken for Aussie ones, that pisses us off! hahaha

I was drinking in a club last night and had two Irish ladies constantly asking me to say different words as they rolled around laughing! I had the last laugh though, they bought ALL my drinks! hahahaha

    ^^^^ Lol (-:
I have a hybrid accent. Usually here people pick me as English just 1 or 2 words after I've started a sentance. When I went back to England last year people instantly thought I was Australian. My old friends thought it was hilarious. I guess it would be funny to see someone after 20 years and hear them sounding totally different (-:

I loooove English accents! Hybrid ones are funny as, Aussiepom and Kiwipom accents are always funny as hell.

I caught up with a guy I hadn't seen for 15 years and he had a full on US accent. Turns out the dick was just putting it on to try and get girls, he had never been to the USA but had been putting the accent on for nearly 10 years and it just became his natural way of talking!

I don't think my Jersey accent is all that bad. But I have been told when I'm really pissed off it comes out. I'm northwestern NJ born and raised and my mother would not tolerate any Yo's or any kind of Soprano type chatter. I think the closer you get to NYC and further down South Jersey you hear a more pronounced Jersey accent. My hubby spent the first 11 years of his life in Poland and then moved to Brooklyn, talk about an accent! He's 39 now and his Polish accent is pretty much gone and his Brooklyn accent is slowly fading too. We tease him and tell him he speaks Brooklish.

When I get drunk the country comes out.. Other than that I have a boring "no accent".. I love foreign country accents, especially South African, yum.

My accent changes dependng on who I'm around. I automatically switch to their accent- it pisses me off too.

How's this for you- my mother, aunt & cousin were taught English by a man from Arkansas, when they immigrated to the US from Mexico. So they would say things like "Mira, down yonder!" and call the fridge a "refrigerat-O". My mom can still do a wicked Southern drawl- but she's from the Mexican version of the Ozarks.
