Isn't there a site dancers can use to book hotels ahead of time at really cheap rates? What about car rentals? I don't mean priceline or anything like that but if that's what's available I suppose.

Of course there are no sites specifically for dancers.
I travel to work every week and have been doing so for almost 4 years and find it to be a HUGE liability for dancers to consider flying into a city and renting a car. With the unstable dancer earnings nowadays (0- $100 nights are all too common) I feel that mode of travel is only for corporate executives.
Driving your own car is the only mode of transportation that makes sense nowadays, and that is provided you do some research on towns you will be working in advance.
Look for extended stay motels or motels with weekly rates and refrigerators if possible. Travel with a microwave. $200-$350 a week should cover most places.
Summer isn't the best time for travel in many places now as during the summer travel season rates go up.
I always have an idea what cities I want to go to in advance, buy maps of those areas and and study them, and go on line and pull up motels, and stores to see what is in the area.
If I decide to work in a place I will get a room for a few nights at a Motel 6 or the like, check out the clubs I may want to work at, and drive around town as you will see lots of motels that may not have showed up on line that look decent, have weekly rates and are in an area you are comfortable with.
If I don't like that town and the clubs in it, I hop in the car and go on to the next stop. You may find places you didn't know about by driving.
Once you're in a town and have been going there for awhile you will know the ropes and can either rebook rooms on line for your next trip, or make reservations and the places that have good rates while you're there so you'll have a room waiting for your next trip.

If you do decide to rent a car, I'd suggest signing up for Budget's reward plan or whatever. They send me coupons via email, for cheaper weekend/weekly rates etc. I'd sign up for Choice hotel's reward program too.

Get the local newspaper online or have it delivered so you can see what weekly rooms and month-to-month apts cost.
