Default buying MAC makeup on ebay?

I've decided I want to try the mac pigments, as some girls at our club use them and they always look awesome. But, I grow tired of colors easily, and am not exactly sure which ones I want. I was thinking about buying one of the sample lots off ebay. (1/4-1/2 teaspoon of pigment in lots from 4-110 colors).

Has anyone else done this? Is this a good idea or should I just suck it up and go to the MAC makeup counter? Any input is helpful.

Are you aware of the MAC discount card that is available of all entertainers including dancers? We get a 30% discount off all MAC products bought at a MAC store with the card.

With a copy of your ID and confirmation on club letterhead that you are a dancer, you can for a fee of $35 annually be issued this card.

The card is not good at stores like Nordstrom or Dillards that have a MAC counter. I see you are Salt Lake and there is no MAC store there, the closest is in Vegas, but you can get the 30% discount if you order on line directly from MAC.

That 30% makes a lot of difference to me.

Tina, can you just use your i.d. and dancing license, since it has a photo. Or, do you HAVE to have a letter on club letterhead specifically? 30% is a GREAT discount

I wouldn't suggest buying MAC (or any makeup)off ebay...it could be old stock! Makeup does 'expire'!

    Take Tina's suggestion...it's a great one!

I submitted the paperwork for my card at the Vegas store. I think I submitted my Sheriff's Card, but they wanted letterhead confirmation too, so the manager of my shift at Cheetah typed me up a letter. He said they do it all the time for girls who need a job reference. He had it for me at the end of my shift.

Hopefully you guy have a cool enough manager or bookkeeper who can do that for you.

Here is MAC's phone # 877-553-5536 or 800-387-6707 x2417 if you want more info.

You can use a credit card over the phone to renew your card each year or pay your initial membership fee. I save 4-5 times the cost of the card with that discount in a years time.

I didn't know that Tina, thanks! I wonder if a paycheck stub would work?

I don't really want to buy a whole bottle of pigment, that's why I was looking at the ebay lots, because they come in smaller packages. If anyone has had an experience with those, let me know!

Otherwise, I'll be contacting the mac store

I would be very aware of buying MAC pigs on ebay as some of the pigments are not actually MAC. I would suggest checking out specktra.com (it's for MAC addicts like myself) and purchasing them off there.

Yea and definitely apply for the MAC pro card! I applied as a Make Up Artist which entitles me to 40% off. If you go the MACPRO website you can download the form and submit it either by mail or fax (mail will take a few weeks as with fax they will debit your account within days). The fax number is not listed on the site so i will have to try and dig it up for you i have it around here somewhere.

I bought 2 pigment samples off ebay: landscape green and emerald green. While they appear to be ok and I haven't had any problems, I'm still leary of buying any more. Besides, after the winning price + shipping (I bought them seperately) they were like $5 each and a full bottle of pigment is $20 w/o the ppid discount.

    Hi Seraya,

I just wanted to note that it's specktra.net - the .com doesn't work. Awesome site!

You might want to go to a MAC counter and get a make-over to help you decide which colors you want.
