I tried Fantasy World on Seventh Avenue and was not impressed. Okay for shoes, but the clothing is mostly Legs Avenue stuff in sealed bags. Then I found Tic Tac Toe in the Village, I believe it's on West Fourth St. in that confusing area where Christopher Street crosses over Sixth Avenue. It's in the same area as the Pink Pussycat Boutique (which has nothing - odd, since I seem to remember them having much more, but it was a few years ago) and is next door to another place called Birthday Suit (which had decent stuff but the two creepy employees stared me down the ENTIRE TIME I was in the store and acted all freaked out any time I touched any merchandise).

Tic Tac Toe, on the other hand, was great - very enthused salesfolk, good selection. Tell them you're a dancer and they'll lead you to the roped-off upstairs area where all the good stuff is. (There's some clothing on the first floor, but most of it's on the second.) You can also get a frequent buyer card which gives you a little discount - nothing mind-blowing, but still a nice gesture.

If you're working in manhattan. Try L' Impasse on 8th avenue between 6th and Broadway. They have some beautiful gowns and you can have things special made. Expensive-$200-$300 but I bet they'll be your money makers.

Lord knows I love that store. But I have yet to see any dresses there for that price- maybe I pay to much attention to the gowns like the ones in the window that are $500 and up.

But you are right Daniela- those clothes are unmatched, whether someone buys an outfit for the club or to go out...all eyes will be on you.

And like RoseWhite mentioned, TicTacToe does have good sales help- the woman was very friendly and attentive.
