    Default Florida- Tax Free shopping

Just to let you gals in Florida know....

I bought an assload of candles yesterday at Ross, and they were tax free due to hurricane season coming up soon. I'm not sure what all's on the list of tax-free stuff (water, and generators I'm, sure).

However, I do know that Walmart is doing it too.

You know what cracks me up about the tax free holidays we have here? Everyone gets all worked up over them...woo hoo! Tax free holiday!

Sales tax in Florida is 6-7% depending on the county/city you live in.

If a store had a sale for 7% off, no one would even blink.

I just thought was a funny thing.

hey look at the bright side - Florida's sales tax may be 7% but their state income tax is zero. Compare that to some areas of New York where the combined sales tax is 9%+ and the state+city income tax claims about 10% of your gross income to boot !

Oh I'm NOT complaining about the taxes we pay here, we are UNDER-taxed if anything, and it shows in our never-ending shortage of school/classrooms.

I just think it's funny that people get all worked up over the tax free holiday on school or hurricane supplies. If a parent spends 100 bucks on school supplies, they'll save a whopping 6 or 7 bucks.

I'll give the holidays this much credit...the stores usually tack on 10-20% more off during the holiday, so you end up saving more because of it.

Too bad they don't offer tax free at Louis Vuitton for hurricane season. I mean damn, I could put my candles in a new LV bag or something.

I went shopping in DE and everything is tax free. And in Philly it's tax free on clothing. pretty cool.

When I moved to Florida from Louisiana I was surprised the sales tax is only 7%. In New Orleans it's 9% and you pay state income tax. Florida has much better roads and schools. wtf is up with that?

Alright - I will say it "Lousiana is incredible incompetent and corrupt! That's why your higher taxes don't do shit." Politicians there are real good about taking care of themselves, but not their people. And a lot of people there are mouth breathing lazy bastards who think the world owes em for eating and taking up space.

And don't get me started on the willful ignorance they perpetrate upon themselves.

Under taxed? No such thing when people work five months of the year simply to pay off the various government leaches looking to fund their pension/health plans the rest of us don't have.

No, it's more like under enforcement for the deportation of millions and millions and millions and millions of people who SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY. Want to clear out a hospital ER room? Send a couple of ICE agents in there and people will be jumping out the windows!

So many simply are in denial or don't know how much wages and services have been effected in this country over illegal immigration.
