Default Depilatories...Are they good for you?

I wouldn't think that anything containing ingredients that dissolve hair could be good for you. They must be safe if they sell them in stores, right? But still. I have a really bad time shaving because of in-grown hairs and razor burn but I'm worried about using chemicals on my body.

Honestly, I've tried every dipilatory on the market. You don't get the razor burn but you'll still get the ingrown hairs unless you're reapplying as soon as the new hair starts growing back.

From experience: Nair around the delicate bits burns like a sonofabitch.

Nair is evil... I used to use it from time to time no problem then the last time i used it I looked like I had a fight with about a million red ants. My legs were red and bumpy and on fire. It took over a week to get rid of it. I will never touch that shit again.

LOL I made the rookie mistake of using Nair instead of waxing the...*ahem*....delicate area. Holy hell, I can't even explain the pain of chemical burns on the giblets.

I've had reactions to dipilatories on other parts of my body too. Now I just stick to shaving (and using tons of bikini zone or tend skin) or waxing. Dipilatories just plain suck. Ingrown hairs are a given no matter what method of removal you use.

There's a quote I had once... what was it? Oh yeah.

    Nair is not for pussies.

Wrong - not specifically hair removal cremes, that was just a general comment . However if you google some of the ingredients in hair removal creams...

they also sell things like tabacco, alcohol, ephedra etc at stores - all known to be bad for your health. just because it's legal to sell it doesn't mean it's safe to use it.

as far as depilatories go, well, i don't know how safe those are, but they always leave my skin feeling kind of sticky or something so i don't use them.

if you're looking for alternatives or ways to treat razor burn just do a search; there are a ton of informative threads on the subject.
