Default Learning and doing Pole Tricks

I've been dancing for a while and I never learned any pole tricks. I don't have much upper body strength, and I just can't grasp it. As a result I feel my stage shows are boring compared to some of the other girls who can do some amazing stuff. Do you guys do much pole work, and if you don't how do you make your show more interesting?
I did take a few lessons, but the pole was really fat and slippery, maybe it was a cheap one. Usually I find them thinner and with more grip at the clubs.

I do a few pole tricks, and they don't seem to make a damn bit of difference in how much I make. They do keep me entertained on stage, though, and a happy dancer attracts more money.

To climb the pole, you will need upper body strength...most of the spins require minimal arm strength, though.

Can you go into work early and practice, or practice when it's slow?

I did what Sassy suggested and got to the club early to practice, then I took a few pole classes to learn more. You'll discover what works and feels comfortable to you the more you practice. For instance, I'm the oppisite of XOXO, I find climbing it requires propper grip and lower body strength. If I grasp the pole crrectrly with the top of my feet I can push myself up using my legs. But you'll only find these things out if you keep doing it.

There some girls in my club who do some amazing Cirque du Soliel stuff, I'm not one of 'em. I do a couple of simple spins, hang upside down, and climb & slide. Just enough to keep myself busy if I'm on the pole stage (my club only has one now, and it's a small stage in a low visivility area) and sell table dances on our pole tables.

Most of the time, to keep my stage show intresting, I practice the basic three stripper rules. Smile, make eye contact, move slow. Sounds too simple to be true, but you'd be surprised how many girls don't do it.

I would suggest a personal pole. Then try to find some videos or pics you like, look closely, and try to replicate. Do that until you feel comfy with it.

I'm one of the few girls at my club that does "the amazing pole tricks" and to put it bluntly, pole tricks do not always equal to more dollars on stage. In fact, I have intimidated a few people with the stunts I perform, but it's apart of what I do to shine. You just need to find your own comfort level. Pole dancing isn't for everyone and there can be a lot of injuries that go along with mastering the craft.

There are so many ways to make your stage show interesting. Find what you do best and work it. There are a handful of girls where I work that just get up on stage and stand there dazed and confused, it makes no difference in their earning potential. Not everyone is fond of "the pole divas" or a great stage performer.

If you truly want to improve your stage show and not specifically learn to pole dance - just focus on that. You can have a great stage show without using the pole.
