    Default Amateur Night/Audition

So, the super high class club in town called me to audition *yay!!!* They want me to do their amateur night contest, which is tomorrow. So, I took tomorrow off from my other club so I could go. Now, you have to be licensed here to be a dancer, so we can only dance in bikinis (which is fine by me). But this is all irrelevant, here's my real question

I am the ONLY participant who currently works in a club, and probably the only one that has experience. I obviously am not going to tell the other contestants that, no need to upset anyone (the club hosting the amateur night knows) but since it's also my audition, I really wanna bust out some pole tricks. Is this a bad idea?

Oh, and did I mention the prize is 500 bucks plus tips? And if I win, I go on to the finals, where the prize is 2k plus tips! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Actually, the only "Amateur Nights" I have ever heard of, in my area or anywhere else, are filled with professionals. Sometimes the clubs use them as their audition night for brand-new dancers, but mostly it's the night that strippers form other clubs come in to check out a new place. Your situation could be an exception, but really, I've only ever heard of Amateur Night as being anything but.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, though - it could still be really lucrative (you could end up with a job, prize money, etc.). So bust out those pole tricks! I don't think you have to pretend to be new - I honestly don't think anyone will be surprised. You said the manager knows, so that's all that matters. If, as he claims, the others really are all new & non-pro, all the better for you!

    Best of luck!!!

True Rose, most places do have a bunch of dancers, for some reason salt lake seems to be an exception. *shrug* And actually...this is the only amatuer night around here...weird...anyway, thanks for the advice!

Oh, and the last amateur night this club had, people FREAKED out because one of the girls that won USED to be a dancer

Oh, I neglected to notice that you're in SLC! That must be a total trip. I actually have a whole branch of my family that lives in PROVO, which, as you must know is the Mormonest place on earth. Salt Lake is enough of an LDS stronghold, obviously, but the total population there is what, 55% Mormon? In Provo it's like 98%, no exaggeration. Anyway, love my family, and I've been there to visit a bunch of times - once just three weeks ago. I always feel like a cultural anthropologist . . .

So yeah, things may indeed be QUITE different there! And hopefully in your favor. I'd love to hear about what it's like to dance in Utah - I hear it's incredibly strict.

Yep very different. I'm hoping I don't get in trouble with my current club for doing an amateur night at another club? Hmmm...
