Default do i have a right to be pissed off?

My best friend has a drinking problem.

she called me at 2 am thursday morning crying uncontrollably. apparently she was too drunk to drive home from the bar and had pulled into a closed gas station parking lot and vomited all over herself. she called me crying and i was hardly able to understand her. she wanted me to come pick her up so the cops couldnt arrest her if they stopped.

i have a cold and had just drank some nighttime cold medicine when she called. if i would have been able i would have gone and picked her up, but i was not going to risk my safety to do so.

now shes mad at me and wont return my calls. i called some people to see if they could get her and one of our mutual friends ened up picking her up. this wasnt my fault and i feel pretty angry that shes mad at me for this!

i feel i have a right to be mad, but am i in the wrong?

Nope. You are not in the wrong. Best to drop her. Spoken from experience.

I don't think you are in the wrong here! God, theres not many minds harder to reason with than the alcaholic one, just leave her be for a while. She is the master of her own destiny, not you!

You played this scenario exactly how a truly good friend would. As far as I'm concerned, you went above and beyond the call of duty. Hopefully when she comes to, she'll understand that and thank you one day.

im mainly pissed off becuase she should count her lucky stars that the cop that stopped and checked on her didnt take her to jail for a dui, he told her to call someone to pick her up.

that and shes telling people someone slipped something into her drink becuase she only had *8* beers. ugh.

    bullshit.

She should be embarrassed and apologize. You did nothing to warrant her being upset with you. If she truly is your best friend, you two should be able to talk this out like adults. Screw her, if she's gonna act like a baby and not return your calls!

I would be mad at her. That does not sound like a friend that I would like to have. Do you really need a friend like that?

I agree with what everyone has said above. She's acting pretty juvenile that she's not getting her way 100%. Hopefully for the sake of your friendship with her, she will pull her head from wherever it is and understand the position you were in.

You want to be there for your friends, but you don't have to stand for abuse thats unwarranted like that. I think she is finding it easier to blame others rather than herself for some reason.

This isn't a case of right vs. wrong. This is a simple matter of what you're willing to deal with and what is healthy for you. It's good to help out friends, but when it goes too far....when it interferes with your ability to take care of yourself....then it is not only not worth it, but intrusive. So the question is - "Am I right to say FUCK IT?" In that case....yes.

You teach ppl. how to treat you. She'll expect u to give in everytime if u start putting up w/ her b.s. now. Just let her pout. Hopefully she'll realize she's in the wrong.

You have to be careful friends...some of them...not intentionally....will lead you into feeling bad about yourself. Yet, the point of friendship is for you to be you...and him/her to be himself/herself. Be true to yourself and if a friendship moves into an area that essentially forces you to be untrue to yourself....well, then what's the point??

Ohhhhh, it all seems so deep.
