    Sad Some newbie waitress problems

So, for everyone who hasn't read my previous post about the strip club where i waitress and how it was not paying me, dirty bathrooms, and being a little too iffy, well let's just say they do a LOT of illegal things and let a LOT of things slide more than anyone should. Well after them not paying me again for 8 hours, two days later (today) 15 minutes before my shift my husband had to rush me to the hospital because of some serious pain problems I've been experiencing that had suddenly accelerated. So just as we got home so that my husband could call for me, btw I am unable to physically speak right now because of a severely swollen jaw and mouth because of severe tooth ache and sinus problems, the owner calls and yells at my husband to tell him that I am "cheap and irresponsible". After he hung up on my husband before he could explain why I wasn't at work he called them again and spoke to the manager instead and explained (very upset) that he didn't appreciate his wife being called names and that the owner wouldn’t appreciate his wife being called that too. I didn't understand the "cheap" part because I'm not cheap, whatever that means. I am an honest person. I just had this one mishap.

I'm gonna try out dancing for the first time at another club, and hand in a resume to be a waitress there too. Hopefully my attending bartending school will mean more to them than it did my boss. One thing I will really miss is the many customers who went there to sit in my section because they appreciated my service. I'm glad there were at least some people who appreciated me there and they were all so very polite to me and wonderful patrons. I should have listened to their advice that I should have been someplace nicer... but I needed the money and I didn't really have the self esteem that they saw in me No kidding this industry teaches you to have a tougher skin!

So I am fired now and I'll never go back to that place, but I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems before?

Oh OK, my last boss was in this lovey spot in Alberta....craaappp I hated him, we actually hated each other. The only reason I stayed there for 10 months was bc. the managers liked me ^^ haha. Anyways I'm in the midst of filing a complaint. Fun things, those are..hah

i'm not gonna go after them for the money. I really don't want to complain and I never wanna haveta deal with the owner ever again. I think I'll take it as another of life's lessons and concentrate on getting healthy. I'm easy going, plus I know I can do sooooo much better than that place. i've worked at many places before that they actually care and are attentive to their employees.

some of the employees there have complained about being short hours and $$ on their paycheques, as well. one or two wait staff has left a few days after mentioning this to me (in passing) The staff there was really really friendly and great to work with. I am still a little confused as to why I was fired and why they wouldn't let my hubby explain that being in excrutiating pain, work would be the last thing on my mind. he just kinda blew up on him.

    I worked at Caddy's, btw.

I can honestly say i've never heard a single positive thing about Caddys. You can do a lot better then there. There are tons of clubs. Try hitting the downtown clubs or Whiskey A Go Go(good for waitressing, okay for starting dancing you will want to move on after) also try Mississauga for waitressing jobs. I know the waitresses there do really well. Clubs like Airport Strip, Treasures or Landing Strip. Avoid Million Dollar and Diamonds as well as Cannonball. Best of luck to you

Thanks so much for the advice. Everyone really has been helpful. I really love this site.

I've gone to Whiskey a few months ago and the manager told me to come back whenever I have a licence to get started, and the manager at treasures emailed me back to come in for an interview anytime I want.

Hopefully I'll be moving into the Toronto area soon. Looking for an apartment that allows cats, hopefully a townhouse to rent. I'm thinking of trying out some of the downtown ones in a few months when I can get a licence, since my hangout is mostly downtown, and I've got my bartending courses till the end of july there.

Anyone got any suggestions on a good club specificaly downtown Toronto, to eventually try out? I'd don't mind hopping around and checking them out. just wanna get a few opinions on what places to avoid and what places to see.

Plus a friend of mine and I were never able to have a bachelorette party and are having a belated one early next year. Any suggestions on a strip club to go to?

Okay first off if your going to start dancing in Toronto be willing to spend A LOT of money for a license. Your Toronto license is $400 when all is said and done to dance. You need a background check done(best to do in Peel Region as it will be same day vs 4 - 6 weeks in Toronto) then you need to go to the licensing place at Bay/Dundas and wait about 2 hours to get you license. It really is not something I recomend for newbie dancers as its a lot of money for something your not sure about. Your Vaughn license is a 20min thing to do and costs $190. Honestly Whiskey is a good club to start dancing at as the mgmt and girls are great.. but the money is far from consistant, once you get comfortable and know you want to continue to dance then invest in a Toronto license. Or if you can just start in Toronto if you want to spend the money. I recomend The Brass Rail or Zanzibar... or to just start out try Lancaster 1(the second one on bloor is scary) or Paradise. Avoid Fillmores, also avoid Seductions.

For waitressing try any club downtown.. The Rail is a nice club. Best of luck to you

Oh and if you want a rowdy bachelorette party I do recomend Whiskey as thats what that place is for. Bah I still talk it up even though I dont work there that much anymore lol. But I HIGHLY recomend brass rail

Yeah. Because of the "holy cow lots of money to spend cuz I'm poor" issue. I was thinking of starting in Missisauga for a week or two. I do like Whiskey though, except for this weird creepy non english speaking old man that mistakened my friend and I for dancers... :s He was almost as creepy as "poop trail man" at Caddy's... But it is really a fun place to go to no shame in promoting it at all. I will have to swing by the rail and zanzibar sometime, just cuz I've never been. ^^

for a bachellorette party,, i would say the first place to go is whiskey, that place has a really great vibe on saturdays, and their features were really really entertaining! there are also a lot of women that go to that club ( as customers) i felt realyl comfortable there. the only bad thing i have to say abotu whiskey is their womens washroom, it was pretty horrible.
if in toronto go to brass rail, althought i dont know if they do reservations,,, but you mgiht want to call before hand because the thursday i went with 3 guys and we had a hell of a time trying to find a table it was rammed. brass rail looks like the clubs you see in rap videos, its pretty nice on the inside and there are a lot a lot of dancers. also the dancers dance to a wider variety of music, i found at whiskey it was most rock type stuff.
i dont recoment zanzibar at all,, its layout sucks, and when i went there were probably only 7 girls rotating on the stage,, and they didnt change their dances or outfits or anything, and there were fewer attractive women, in my opinion,, there wasnt much of a buzz going on in there ,, and i had one stripper freak out on me for giggling when she was giving me a lapdance inf ront of my friends in the smoking room, and i had another stripper bitch to me for 10 minutes on how she wasnt making any money and she thinks she should go home. not what a customer wants to hear in a club. the wait staff wasnt really that nice either.

another club that is really reallllllllly nice is for your eyes only,,, it is pretty upscale, if your friends arent that rowdy, and want to go to hang out and relax this club is reallly nice. they have a pretty nice looking menu also if you guys plan on eating out... ( no pun intended) its a little more expensive than the other clubs, but it is really nice, and they note they are female customer friendly on their website.

Brass Rail baby!!!! And get your dances from Amara LoL... seriously though for a rowdy party hit up Whiskey... for a not so rowdy but still upbeat good time hit up the Rail.

Oh i hear ya on the whole bad bathroom facilities thing -_-; at caddy's i used to get beamed in the head with the tp dispenser every time. Probably will go to the rail because it's closer to the dance studio that we plan to have the initial part of the party at... and because we've given up asking our hubbys to take us to the rail (they aren't really strip club type guys... mine used up all his SC enthusiasm in his 20s and the other is kinda antisocial )

btw I love the name Amara
