    Angry Insomnia!

It's 4 a.m. and I'm wide awake. I'm so very tired, but when I lie down to sleep, I just feel restless. I've tried almost everything - hot Sleepytime tea, a bath, reading, everything. There's no red wine in the house, unfortunately, and I can't buy any this time of morning.

Birds are already waking up outside and the sky will lighten soon. I couldn't sleep last night, either. I'm so TIRED. I don't know why I couldn't sleep last night; I know that tonight, my poor kitty is so completely dry it burns. And while the rash on my face is clearing up, my mouth still itches. And my boyfriend is 3000 miles away and it's hard to sleep without him here. I need to sleep so badly!

I hate this shit. Usually I get this right before my period for one night or two, but that's weeks away. I don't know what's causing it tonight, maybe the prednisone shot I got today. Anyway it sucks! I wanna go to sleep!

And I had to sit around earlier and listen to my roommate and his girlfriend - who my bf uncharitably calls Flapjack and Two Tons of Fun - have loud sex all night. Sheesh, no wonder my vagina is totally and completely devoid of all possible moisture. I'm sure it looks like Death Valley. And of course I've got all these unwelcome images in my head... no wonder my body won't go to sleep or release a little moisture where it's needed.

I suppose it's karma because I carry on like a porn star when my bf and I go at it. When I get laid well, the neighbors down the street need a cigarette from all my vocalizing. And I'm sure there have been many nights when Flapjack and Two Tons of Fun have had to sit around listening to us. But hey, at least we're hot!

Fuck, it is now after 5:30 a.m. and I've been awake for almost 24 hours, doing nothing all night. I'm exhausted. Now that the sunshine is beginning to light up the window right next to my bed, and the birds are putting on a lively concert, I guess I'll try to go to sleep.

I HATE seeing the sun come up when I've been up all night, especially when I didn't want to. I love the sunrise when I'm up early but I cannot stand to see it from this angle.

Ugh, i get that sometimes. It is some kind of torture. And even if I manage a nap later in the day, the entire day is shot to hell. i can't function without sleep. I have no advice, just commiseration.

I take Tylenol PM & it'll knock you out.
If you have 3 heavily steeped cups of Sleepytime tea in 1 hour, you will have to lay down..LOL
    & Then there's always the Medicinal Herb...LOL

Small world, I just watched that last night! Did you know he lost 60lbs for that? Eesh...

I have insomnia, it runs in the family unfortunately. When it gets bad I take an Ativan and that usually does it but I only go that route if i've been virtually sleepless for a week or more.

I seem to get insomnia several times a week as well. Initially I can fall asleep without any problems, but then I wake up around 2am and can't get back to sleep. My mind starts working and the next thing I know it's 6am.

My husband thinks I should see a doctor to get a medication for it, but I have a weird thing about taking drugs (I don't even like taking asprin for headaches). However, I should try the Tylenol PM, since being tired throughout the day isn't cutting it...

I take Seroquel too, but I take it during the day AND at night. It knocks most people out for 8 hours, but I have taken it since I was 17, so I have a high tolerence. Melatonin works quite well for alot of people, but there is always the trusty Tylenol PM for a quick fix.

The best thing that is not a drug is two Valerian capsules and a cup of chamomile. It works. Really. The problem with drugs and Valerian is that you want to be able to sleep for a little while, and I've noticed that people rarely want to actually sleep for 8 hours anymore.

Can't sleep? Lavendar oil on my temples, and masturbation, works wonders for me when I can't get to sleep. Also, slow, deep, belly breaths help relieve any tension.

Also, this sounds weird but it works---while you are lying there in the dark, with your eyes closed, move your eyes back and forth, up and down, behind your lids. When we are in REM sleep, our eyes jerk around. This is our deepest sleep. It seems that mimicking this eye movement with your eyes closed immediately relaxes, and the brain starts to drift into sleep. I kid you not.

Sleepytime is made by Celestial Seasonings (herbal tea company) and contains chamomile. This makes you sleepy. I drink it sometimes, and I'm not tired the next day. But it doesn't always work for me.

You can get it at most grocery stores, in the tea/coffee aisle.

The box has a charming home scene of a bear in a nightcap by a fire on it.

Chamomile tea doesn't make me sleepy, but Sleepytime tea usually knocks me right out. It was weird that it didn't work last night. I'm already sleepy here at 10:45 pm so I should sleep well tonight!

I just hope I can avoid my inherent hypochondria... I went to the clinic for STD screening today. No results yet, but the place where they drew blood from is huge and swollen and sore, which doesn't usually happen to me. And the fingertips on my OTHER hand are numb. Nothing to be concerned about most likely, but whenever medical people fuck with my body or give me medication (I had a prednisone shot yesterday), I get twitchy. I'm one of those people who gets EVERY side effect of EVERY medication. It sucks.

The other day I noticed Tylenol PM comes in liquid form now. Not sure what to think about that.

I have long been a sufferer of insomnia. My doc finally has put me on Clonazepam for anxiety and it has helped soooo much with my sleep issues.

I used to like to drink Sleepytime EXTRA with Valerian and I would use 2 tea pods for double strength. It is pretty good at knocking me out but I would still wake up in the middle of the night.

Kind of weird but I have found that a small bowl of cottage cheese or other light dairy snack will make me sleepy again.
