    Default frenectomy

has anyone ever had this done? It's where an oral sergon removes that fleshy part between your tounge and the bottom of your mouth if it is connected up too far. I'm having this done in two weeks, and am worried it might alter my speach for good. Like slurring and stuff, for years afterward, thats what I'm worried about.

Also, about what vitamines not to take before a surgery. I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed at the same time. Will I slur forever? will I sound completely normal?

I've heard it gives you magical Gene Simmons Tongue Skills. (It was discussed on a radio show.) I could only imagine altered speech if the doctor bungles & hits a nerve. Make sure he's good!

Why are you having this done?

I'm having this done because my tounge is connected almost all the way up to the tip. I have always been sef conscious of it, because I feel like I'm a bad kisser, because I can't really use my toung. It hurts when I yohn, I can't roll my rrrrrr's at all, but mostly because of the kissing thing. I've never really been able to french kiss, just able to sick on boyfriends lips and whatnot.

It has never affected my speach or anything like that ( except for not being able to roll my r's), but it is painful when I try to stick it out, like at doc appointments and whatnot. I'm just worried I may end up sounding weird permenantly afterward.

PS: I don't absoloutly have to have it done, it's more based on i just want to be able to have that passionate kiss, or speak spanish fantastically. I'm considering backing out of it, but I think I'm just afraid.

you could take a scalpel and do it yourself i know a few people that have done this. it wont need stitches. the mouth heals quite fast.

my dentist did it to my upper one to show more teeth when I smiled. Other than that, no difference. Same with wisdom teeth removal.

Your dr. should be able to tell you what to take and not to take before surgery.

    Eewww!!

I think you'd be okay. You could always go see a speech therapist.

oh, I forgot to mention back in my wild and crazy days, I got my lower frenum pierced and had a captive ball ring in it, and still no speech problems. I since took it out because it was a bitch to keep clean.

My old neighbor had this done when she was like 6, she had a speech problem because of it though. Her skin went almost all the way to the tip. I think thats how they discovered it, because she never got out of the baby talk phase. We had kittens once, and she came over and asked my dad if she could see my sisters titties, meaning kitties.

Anyway, after they snipped the skin, she talked normally really fast, and I dont think they gave her anything but liquid tylenol for pain, but I dont think she ever took any. I just remember after she got back, she was outside playing like an hour later, like nothing happened.

You should be fine. It may take a few weeks to adjust to the new flexible tongue, but you'll learn quickly how to use it. And I'm sure your boyfriend will enjoy it as well.

Yea for you! I am all for doing whatever you can to make your life better. And it doesn't sound like this is a major procedure at all...especially since it can be done along with a wisdom tooth extraction. It's sad that you've been self-concious when kissing. I hope this gives you the confidence to go out and french kiss the world!
