    Default Pilates question

Is there such a thing as too much Pilates?

I've been doing Pilates classes about 5 days a week. I also do cardio 3 times a week (30 minutes) and lift weights 2-3 times a week.

Since I only have a limited amount of time at the gym, I want to ensure I'm maximizing my workouts. Do you think it's okay to keep the frequency of the Pilates classes (I really love them), or should I switch some out for more cardio or weights?

My goal is to become more toned and lean. I'm 5'3" and 110 pounds, so I'd really just like to drop a few pounds and tone up.

probably not too much, but your body can definatly get used to it. you need to "shock" your body. switch up the workout dramatically. do a different type of cardio, maybe add more cardio, do some heavy weights and maybe just cut out pilates for a week, then go back to it.

In my best shape, I did Pilates 7 days a week. But, you do need to challenge yourself, even in Pilates. Buying the different Pilates equipment (not necessarily the apparatuses) will help keep you moving up. Getting the Pilates Ring, Bands, etc will keep you "challenging" your body.

I know the instructor I took pilates with said she would sometimes start people off every day for a while but I don't know if she regularly trained people in pilates daily. Still it sounds like it worked for Venus so why not keep at it? I love Pilates. I need to make myself do it more.

I love pilates also. I'm actually almost a certified instructor - just have to pass a damn anatomy class. And I don't think you can over do it. You just want to vary your routine, like everyone said. It sounds like you've got a good schedule though . You aren't really getting much cardio from pilates and you do want to challenge your body. High intensity cardio will really help with fat burning. But you're getting great toning and posture work from the pilates classes. I say just keep it up! It sounds like you're probably in great shape.
