You know, that awful MTV dating game. Whenever I can't sleep, it's there for me (along with Jessica Simpson and P Diddy trying to sell me Proactive).
My favorite part of the show is when they say,"He NEXTED me!"

??? What does that mean when someone's nexted you?

They set up a guy or girl on blind dates with 5 people which they put into a bus. One at a time, the strangers step out of the bus and go on a date until said guy or girl:
1. says "next" and the dater retreats back to the bus, recieves $1 for every minute of the date he or she was on, and sends the next person out of the bus and onto the date
2. guy or girl asks dater on a second date and dater has the choice between taking the $ and returning to the bus or going on the second date.
I know, it's soooo dumb, but the regular butchering of the English language and retarded antics of the shows contestants are so entertaining!
I love MTV shows. We don't get most of them up here, so I go crazy watching them when I'm down there.
(OT: any Canadians know why the new MTV Canada channel is so lame? And why doesn't it play music?)
Feature costumes for sale!
Heh.. I miss that show. I used to love watching the marathons they had on every weekend. I need to get cable back at some point.

If its any consolation, American MTV doesn't play music either, at least not enough to justify the 'M' in its name.Originally Posted by scarlett_vancouver

Former SCJ now in rehab.
Yeah, I miss the good ole days when MTV and VH1 had videos. Not the reality crap that they have now.

I only like to watch Next when it has the lesbian/gay people on it.
Man, I wish theyd bring back The Head, The Maxx and Aeon Flux and Liquid Television...those were the good shows.

Canadian television requires a quantity of canadian based shows - so a lot of US based shows don't make it there.
People are willing to buy videos and concerts on DVD now (and for their iPods today) - so what once was a marketing gimmick has become a for-pay product.

i love that show too!
MTV should be banned. Watch something educational instead!![]()
I watch PBS, does that count as educational? I'm a NOVA addict, and I'm hooked on all the other nature shows they put on.
Hey, Rhia, did you see the PBS documentary on the children working in the silver mines in the mountains of Bolivia recently? It was amazingly well-done.

I love love LOVE Daria! I wish they'd bring that back! Now, it's only one reality show after another (on MTV). I usually end up watching NEXT in the mornings, though... There's nothing else on but that and blind date... Ugh, dating shows are so addicting!![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

MTV has gone from being an avant-garde media outlet to becoming everything that is wrong with America. You're awesome Mia (shameless pandering, I know) but Next! is a perfect example of that trend--it's occasionally on the TVs at my gym and it just blows mind that people enjoy this tripe.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

Hey, we all have our guilty pleasures. Mine just happen to be Next, 7-11 nachos, and Myth Busters... I have to appease my inner stoner, slob, and geek!Originally Posted by Casual Observer
