That is cool.

Where is that? Where I grew up, before it was too crowded like it is now, you could see that fairly frequently.

Wow! Keep an eye out for the night when all the little baby turtles make a break for the sea!
^Oooh! Good point! Velvet.. If you could snap pics of the babies too, if/when you see them, I'd LOVE it!

They are very cool shots velvet!

I grew up in FL too, and I have seen this a few times. Usually, some Fish & Wildlife guys would come out and put little cages around the nest area, and some caution tape, to minimize the nestraiders like raccoons and seagulls and whatnot. Do they still do that, I wonder? If so, maybe you could get in touch with them and let them know the location of the nest. Those little guys need all the help they can get!
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

those are awesome! you're so fortunate to have witnessed that!

AMAZING
Remebner, it's VITAL TO TURTLE SURVIVAL that lights in beach-front properties (houses, condos, parking lots, etc) be PREVENTED from hitting the beach during mating/birthing season. This means shutting blinds, positioning correcft lights and whatever else is needed. The turtles when they dig out go for the brightest thing they see (originally this was the moon on the water) and head for it. With your porch light on, they get lost and never make it to the sea and die. please pass the word on this!Ama

Is that area going to be roped off so no one disturbs them? Rock on. Thats so cool, Velvet!

don't touch the eggs or the babies when they come! In a lot of species, the mothers will abandon turtles with human smell on them...don't know about turtles, but it would suck if that happened.
These turtles never see their mothers. As soon as they're born, they're on their own.
eh well. I guess it's mostly hamsters and other furry creatures like that![]()

I'm actually creating a fund through the two charity websites I run to raise $$ for an awareness campaign in fla about the importance of protecting the habitats and properly controlling light. The $$ comes from the sale of images of models in "sexy not sexual" poses and outfits and such.
If anyone wants more info, just PM me. We will probably hit media with this next month...
Aww, that's awesome! Turtles are so cool.
Feature costumes for sale!
Actually, that's pretty cool, Velvet.
