I just read that an hour's pole dancing class can burn off 350 calories - so think how much you can burn in a shift!

I know I burn alot of calories at work and I don't do anything fancy on stage. I am so much more toned now than I was a year ago when I started dancing.
i used to burn sooo many calories at work b/c we had 10min sets on stage and stage rotation was madatory. but where i work now when you're doing dances you're removed from the stage list so i'm never up there anymore
Well, it depends how much you are on stage. Our sets are 2 songs which is about 7-8 minutes and we typically do 2-6 stage rotations depending on the number of girls we have. So, that would be almost an hour if you were doing mostly pole during your sets at the most.

But all that table/lap dancing and walking around burns calories too. I know we burn a TON of calories just working a regular shift. Haven't you ladies seen any girls who quit dancing and suddenly gained quite a bit of weight? I have. It's because they still eat the same way but aren't getting all that exercise at work anymore...
^ I was just about to say... I think I burn more calories doing lap dances than I do on stage. Oooo, my quads!![]()
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I gain weight when I dance I think because the emptiness I felt and trying to compensate for that with food. I felt like it just sucked the life right out of me. I don't eat nearly as much when I am not dancing and I am ultimately thinner. I have only danced once in the past month.

Well, I hope it's atleast enough to burn off the Jack-In-The-Box Chicken Strips that I eat after work.![]()

Are you kidding! With all stage shows and the running around in between, even just talking/entertaining the customers burns a ton of calories during a shift. But how many it depends on a lot of things,on the amount of hours you work, how you work, what kind of a club it is etc, etc.I personally found that working in a lap dance club I burned more calories, simply because of all the dances done besides the stage shows. And that was great,I didn't even go to the gym for whole year while working there,it wasn't needed. At my home club it's just stage shows once an hour, but you still stay busy the whole entire shift and burn the calories.
And you guys are right,I've seen many a former dancer balloon up after retiring (not everybody though). It seems that while in the business the lifestyle as a whole is much more active.
you also have the count the calories you put in dinking even if you are just drinking soda and the waffle house after if you did that night.
Thank you! Yeah, sorry I went a little off subject there.Originally Posted by JustJayda

I don't dance professionally, but use the pole for dance/exercise. I wear my heartrate monitor to track my heartrate. I burn 320-400 calories per hour.
