    Thumbs up Healthy Appetite Suppressant

I'm not into drugs or weight-loss schemes, as y'all know... if you're hungry, you need to eat something. Well, here is a very healthy appetite suppressant that I whipped up yesterday and am still working on. I've got enough to last the week, and man, this will make you FULL in addition to being very good for you! One bowl of this soup and you won't eat again for the rest of the day (though you'll want to; it's delicious).

    1 lb. ground turkey
1 head garlic, peeled and chopped
    1/2 head cabbage, chopped
2 or 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
    3/4 cup barley
    1 can fat-free low-sodium beef broth
    3 chicken boullion cubes
    1 can spicy V8 juice

In a large saucepan, cook the turkey and garlic until done. Drain into a strainer and get out the excess fat. Return to saucepan. Add cabbage and just enough water to almost cover it. Add remaining ingredients, stir well, and bring to a boil. Cover, turn down heat to medium-low, and simmer for an hour or until barley is cooked. Add or leave out whatever, except for the barley - that's what makes it so filling, and barley is very good for you!

This makes a week's worth of soup.

Sounds like a soup diet I went on. God, it was bad. Yes, it was the sacred heart diet and boy oh boy was I sick of that soup after the first 3 days.
Ehhh that was a bit off topic, but heck maybe I'll try this recipe. Thanks Yek

Well, don't live exclusively on the soup!! But I'm having it for lunch every day. Keeps me full until dinner.

Then again, I LOVE soup. I don't believe in diets, just healthy eating.

well, sounds a heck of lot better than the cabbage soup diet. But we all know that diet is not good..at least for long.

I do the same thing as well, Yekhefah! I make a gigantic pot of vegetable soup (very thick, almost like a stew) and my man and I eat it for days. Totally filling and really yummy! Heres what I do. Highly recommended!

    2 onions
2 heads of garlic (reduces alot, trust me!)
    8 carrots
    10 sticks of celery
    6 potatoes
    head of cauliflower
    head of brocolli
1 cup and half of black eye peas (dried)
2 large cans of diced tomatoes
    3 can of tomato paste
    lots of chicken stock
    water

First, dice onions and garlic, finely chop 3 carrots and 4 sticks of celery, as well as 2 finely diced potatoes (save other veggies). Fry onions, then garlic, in large saucepan for a few minutes, just to release the juices. Then add carrots and celery for a few minutes, and then potatoes. Do not cook until done. Just until they turn a bit brighter. Then add stock, water (i do about equal parts, 3 cups of each approx), bring to a boil and then add one can of diced tomatoes and all of the tomato paste.

Let simmer on low for 2-3 hours. Go do hair or watch TV..lol. You may be wondering why I only add a few veggies at first. Becasue, the finely diced vegetable thicken and flavour a otherwise bland soup, especially while simmering and all the veggies don't get soft and gross. Trust me, I have mastered the art of veggie soup!

1 hour before serving, approx. Dice potatoes quite large (depending on how you like it). add to soup with dried peas. Then add cauliflower and brocolli (chopping into flowerettes), chopped carrots and celery, and peas and corn of you wish. The best part about this soup is that you can add whatever you want! Then add last can of tomatoes. Serve when veggies are done to perfection.

Refridgerate when done. Reheat when needed. This soup is so good. Low fat, filling, does not take much time, other than simmering time. And you won't get too bored! Add a few dried chilies if you like spice!

P.S. I add pepper throughout the process, but not much salt. Salt to taste.

I have a great beef stew recipe with a secret ingredient... but it might be too fattening. Not sure.
