    Default RAVE: Sonicare toothbrush

So I'm an oral hygiene freak. I bought a Sonicare toothbrush the other day, and it's AWESOME! My teeth feel so clean, and it's already blasted away a little stain I was developing around my gumline (damn coffee). My teeth feel smooth like just after the dentist after each time I brush- I love it!

Mine was $130-odd, with a 2-year warranty. SO worth it. You can probably find one cheaper online- I highly recommend it to other oral hygiene freaks. I've had lots of electric toothbrushes before- waterpik was my last one- but the sonicare SO takes the cake.

I love mine too! I bought it for $100 at Target. I used to HATE going to the dentist, but the cleanings are so much easier now. I've been using it for about 2 years.

my dentist insisted I get one when I got my veneers. I went back to an old kind on vacation once. I hated it! I felt like it hurt to get them as clean as I wanted.

Have been using the new Sonicare (Model 9800) for about 10 days and my teeth are whiter! Plus, I dig the high techy-ness of the device, which beeps to tell me when to change "quadrants."

I'm pleased with my purchase, in other words.

Thanks for the rave .. my teeth are seriously like my most prized possession. That sounds so retarded, I know. But one of my worst fears is me falling and breaking my teeth or something. Even though you can get them fixed, I like my teeth, and I don't wanna replace them. But I definitely LOVE when I get them cleaned by the dentist and I'm so looking forward to this toothbrush! YAY!!

I love my Sonicare toothbrush too. It was one of the best presents I got for Christmas. The first time I used it my teeth felt so amazingly clean. And I agree Chicago, the beeping to let you know how long you have left is awesome. The only problem is mine gets moldy in the middle every so often so I have to clean it out with bleach. Meh, oh well. It's totally worth it

My bf and I got one for Christmas. We both LOVE it. I find myself brushing for muchlonger than I used to, my teeth feel much cleaner, and although I am blessed with white teeth, my bf has a lot of stains, and this toothbrush is getting rid of them. His teeth and mine have never looked or felt better.

    I highly recommend it

You put electricity in your MOUTH?

(I know, everyone does it, it'd still scare me).

I just received an email newletter from my health insurance company offering the sonicare essence 5300 for $57.50. I think I'll take advantage of it.

Here's another technical note: The model 9800--maybe others, too--comes with a pre-programmed, 14-session startup phase. So the power gradually increases over the first 14 brushings.

I will admit that the first time I put the vibrating thing into my mouth (also made the mistake of using the little brushhead, not the flat one), I found the experience quite jarring. Not painful exactly, but I didn't enjoy it. I cannot imagine what I would have done if, on that first try, I was already at FULL power. Yikes.

Now, I like it. And I ain't never going back to a "conventional" toothbrush.

Wow, I'm glad to see someone brought this up. I've been thinking about making a purchase for a while but they are kinda $$$. Of course the second I say I'm thinking about getting one my other half wants one too :p. I'm getting my braces off in 6 months so I was thinking about getting it then.

Does anyone use the cheaper Sonicare or do you all go straight for the Intelliclean line? If I buy just one can we switch the brush tips back and forth to share or should I make him get his own?

I've had mine for 2 years. LOVE IT. I'm studying dental hygiene so it's very important to me.
My dentist recommended that I use a standard toothbrush every couple days, because he said the manual can get into places the sonicare can't. But this might just be cause I have braces on the bottom.

We switch the brush heads. It comes with 2 different brush heads. One is much smaller, so you may not like that, but that is the kind of brush head I perfer, so it works out good for us.

^ and the refills for the 9000 series come one with a pink dot, one with a blue . I think that's super funny.

If you sign up for the sonicare newsletter when you send in your warranty, you'll get free brush head offers. I've gotten two free brush heads already, and it's not even been a year yet.

The only problem is mine gets moldy in the middle every so often so I have to clean it out with bleach. Meh, oh well.
Ew, ya, what's up with that? It skeeves me out! That's my only complaint too.

Mwahah! I read my other half a few of your comments on the 9800 and hes buying us one! Thank you gals! A few positive reviews was all it took to push him over the edge into getting it. We found em on ebay for 88 plus 12 shipping. I'm not sure if that includes the warranty though. I like small brush heads and he likes huuge ones so if it comes with the different sizes it will be perfect.

I've been using sonicare for years and I love it! I've even given them as gifts. After reading this thread, I feel like brushing right now!
