    Default Monday Madness

The Clubhouse in Dallas, where i work, has started a new "thing" called "Monday Madness". our monday night manager has decided it would be entertaining for him to run a contest mid shift for the wackiest, sexiest, most acrobatic, original, or whatever stage set. we can dance to almost anything we want as long as we do it convincingly and with a good attitude. the winner of this contest gets paid house fee for that night. we can wear costumes, have silly props, anything legal really, and its actually pretty fun. this monday i danced to hit me baby one more time for the first time ever in my life. i made a total fool out of myself with the test of the girls and i would have not even made it through the night if we didn't run that contest. i'm not sure if our manager is just pure evil and wants to see what we will do for a paid house fee courtesy of the club, or if he just wanted to help us boost morral and lighten the dreaded mandatory monday. what ever the reason, its really helped us get through mondays and the customers love watching the shows. they also get to help judge the best performances so they feel important.

now, my reason for this post: what do you girls think? have any of your clubs ever done this, and would you ever participate in something like this?

also, i need ideas! i have a nun costume, a toy shotgun, a business suit, and cat costume. what could i dance to that would be unique that i could have fun with? one girl danced to the lion king theme. i really want to put my nun costume to use next monday. i'm just not sure what i could do with it that would be absolutely hilarious. thanks in advance for any tips!!

PS: i think this is his revenge for us dancers duct taping him into the front office three weeks ago. he was about to go on vacation so us and the dj got a role of tape and locked him in, then called him out for something stupid so he would see he was stuck. funny stuff. he had a bottle of burbon in the office with him..he was quite happy. i'll shut up now!!

"I Sit on Acid" by Lords of Acid starts out with classic church organ music, for the nun outfit. Then follow it up with "Welcome to Paradise" by Front 242--"No sex until marriage...Jesus is here...", etc.

If you like this kind of music, that is...

It would work quite well with the nun outfit, but take it off quickly, nun costumes aren't sexy unless they are rapidly shed. Sacrilegious, maybe--but a surefire winner, if you ask me. Besides, if there's a Hell, we'll all probably be there anyway as it is...

Moments later--just saw Monica had posted simultaneously--great idea! Do you do three song sets?

Holy shit (pun intended), Djoser! I haven't heard that Front 242 song in years! I am totally impressed once again. And hey, there'a another song that would go right with this set, and if anyone could remember the band that does it, it's you (or maybe Mr. Chris). Fitting with Monica's idea, actually, but retaining the flavor of the rest of the set, there IS a gothytechdustrial cover of "Like a Prayer" out there.

I love the idea of doing a theme contest night! I think it's a great way to add some fun and cheer into a normally slow night, and additional incentive for customers to come in, too. Wish my management would come up with some creative solutions like that.

The cover of "Like A Prayer" is done by Bigod 20.

What a fun idea! This contest sounds like a blast. You apparently have very cool management.

I think this is a fab idea, i love dressing up and stage show themes. For the nun costume i would use, "I will Follow Him," from the soudndtrack of Sister Act with Whoope Goldberg, (you can prob get it on ebay.)
For thr cat costume you HAVE to dance to the pink panther theme tune. I saw the Pussycat Dolls in concert the other day and they did a nice vesion of this but im not sure if its available to buy or download.
For the business suit you could maybe dance to Big Spender??

we only do 3 song sets for the day shift. the club is quite big so we run up to 35-40 girls on week nights if not more, and 60 on weekends. after 8 we tend to drop down to one song. the contest is also a one song show, and only for one rotation of the list. that means each girl gets just one shot at a winning performance. i'll try the madonna. thanks djoser! i just love mondays now. our bosses are really cool. thanks for the tips every one!
