    Default Bug/Spider Bite!

Yesterday while taking off my socks and shoes, I noticed this friggin HUGE blister thing on my ankle. It looks like a bug bite of some sort, probably a spider. There was a little pus, but me (being the brilliant person that I am) squeezed it out. Only in hindsight did I realize that it wasn't the smartest thing to do. The skin around it is bright blotchy red, like someone left a round hicky on my ankle beneath the bite. It's probably about half an inch in diameter, which is big considered it just appeared out of nowhere.

Is there any way to cover this sucker up? The blister doesn't worry me as the red skin does. I mean, I guess I can always grab a circular bandaid and hope they can edit it out, but I've got like fair, fair skin so the "natural tone" bandaids kind of stick out.

My roommate (being the hippie dude that he is) keeps telling me to put contact solution on it because of the saline salt in it. The boy doesn't even wear contacts, so I dunno why he has a bottle just lying around. It seems to have decreased the size of the blister but isn't doing ANYTHING for the red-blotchiness!

    Advice? Please, please, please?

Hmm. Well, for one, keep it as clean as you can. The things I use & swear by: a liquid soap doctors use, called Hybercleanse, it's in an aqua color bottle. Tea tree oil, & Campho-phenique, it comes in a yellow tube. All should be avail. @ a drugstore. I would keep it covered w/light gauze & surgical tape. &, LEAVE IT ALONE please!.

I would put some peroxide on it to clean it and maybe some neosporin to heal it really fast.Put a large flesh colored bandaid to cover it up.Good luck!

You can buy spray on benadryl which will help with site itchiness. Calamine lotion helps with that as well. As far as cleaning it use part saline and hydrogen peroxide. The light gauze and surgical tape is a good idea as far as keeping it covered but allowing some air to it.

Is it warm to the touch? Does it hurt? It could be an infected bite and need antibiotics. If the redness spreads contact your doctor.

If you have brown-recluse spiders in your area, get to a doctor QUICK! The venom in a brown-recluse bite KILLS THE TISSUE ITS BITTEn! Im serious, if one of those suckers bit you, the bite might not heal on its own.Definatley get to a doctor. And if they say its nothing, but it gets worse, get a second opinion.Brown-recluse bites are not something to just let slide :-(
