making a move to the vanilla job...

Im curious how some of you ladies made the move to "normal jobs after long stints of dancing. Im considering getting a regular job, but what do i do about such things as job history, references and the like?

when i get asked about lack of work history, what do i say? do you tell the truth or lie out your ass?

    confusing i say...

I always kept a part time "regular" job while I was stripping before I had graduated college the first go round. You can always just put on your resume that you excell in the area of customer service. I used to use a club that had closed down as a work experience. I had said that I was a waitress. There was no way to check it out. Or you can always just say that you were/are a student and wanted to consentrate on your studies and didn't need to work at the time. If you know some good people you trust, put them as your references. Hope this helps.

I haven't got great advice, because I am still self employed in a "vanilla" job. I work in construction, and my projects speak for themselves. The customers don't care what I did beyond what they are hiring me to do.

I also have my little ebay store that nets me extra income. And I work for a strip-o-gram company booking shows. That job is glad that I've been a dancer so I can better communicate with both the customers and the dancers I scheduling.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

My job history is a bit spotty. I just make up fake jobs and put my best friends' numbers down on the resume as references. I tell them in advance, of course. I've also lied about my GPA. They have no way to check. I know this completely unethical, but I don't care! Eff the straight world.

I heard something like 80 percent of the people who get hired for positions, lie either on the resumes or at the interview. I go with lie, but it depends on the job i guess.

I agree that it depends on what job you want to whether you should lie or not. If it is a job like waitressing, store clerk, etc they probably won't check your references anyway. I would use jobs I actually had a long time ago but change the dates to more recent. Alot of badly paying jobs won't ask for refenences or won't check them, but hire you on the spot. If you're willing to make little $ for a while you can slowly build a resume that is real.
