    Default 18 in Oregon?

    hi..

me and my boyfriend were thinking about moving to..oregon!
    probably around the portland area.
ive been reading about it on other posts on this site, and it seems that theres alot of clubs!

anyways, im only 18 and never danced but, so i was wondering can you be 18 to be a dancer there in oregon? because where i live now, (hawaii) you have to be 21(aint that a drag?)

thanks so much! also any other info on oregon would be great too. it would be great if any dancers in oregon could tell me some info. thanks

Oo, Oregon! You're going to love it.

Well I'm not from there, but I think most places are 18+.

Probably should have that confirmed by someone in the area though.

    Good luck!

You can dance at 18 in Oregon but you can't work the floor. You can be on stage and you can perform table dances, but you have to sell those from the stage or whatever other area they have roped off for minors since you can't be at the bar or on the floor where they're serving alcohol. It's not an ideal situation for hustling but I guess it's better than nothing.

There are juice bars where, since no alcohol is being served, under-21s can mingle on the floor but they're generally not as nice as the clubs serving liquor.

Portland is an awesome city and in general the state is absolutely gorgeous. I moved to Portland in December and have been loving it. Big move to make at 18 with a boyfriend, though, honey.

Technically you're not allowed to do table dances if you're under 21, but I know that a lot of clubs break that rule.

^^^ I think they get around it by having the separate area for dances, ostensibly where liquor won't be served. At least I think that's the idea.

Well it's impossible for us to know/guess how well you're going to do. It depends on how good of a hustler you are, what clubs you work at, etc. Keep in mind that most clubs in Oregon are pretty low money. Most girls I know at most clubs in Portland make around $100-$150 in an average shift...

I second what Anna said... especially if you're a minor, it can be hard to even break a bill consistently until you have a lot of regulars and have perfected a minor hustle. However, the low cost of living in Portland helps even it out (my rent is about $350/mo)... but, especially at a younger age I would say that you should make sure to maintain regular job experience, because you don't want to feel screwed out of the already difficult pdx job market if you have no experience outside of clubs that can earn you more than minimum wage. (And indeed, on the really hard days you might make less than min) Not necessarily the best place to come to for earnign a crapton of money.

I don't want to sound too discouraging though, because I actually think Portland is a great place to dance! Yes the money is lower than a lot of other places, but it's easy to dance here. Almost all of the clubs are no/very low contact. Many of the clubs here are tiny, with just a couple dancers, which means you get tons of stage time. If you like performing that can be fun. There's a lot of freedom so you can get away with stuff like wearing crazy outfits, having as many tattoos and piercings as you want, having bright pink hair or whatever, dancing to obscure/weird/silly music, and so on. Of course that's not so true in the handful of big, fancy clubs that we have here. That's another good thing, that there are lots of club choices. A lot of girls (like me) prefer small clubs, even though they may seem less flashy and exciting. But there are fewer girls to compete with (which would probably be good for a brand new dancer), it's a lower hustle environment, and the money can be just as good as the bigger clubs.

You can make good money in PDX. I've made over 600 dollars in a shift before. Sometimes you just get lucky with that one customer who will lavish you with money. Usually a "good" night for me though is 200-300 and that includes busy times like the weekends. You can make money in Portland as a minor. PM me if you want more information.
