    Default Accupuncture / foot pain

I have had a persisting foot problem for a while now. It began with a stress fracture from dancing shoes not fitting right when i was working etc. (and i've learned to love the podiatrist) and now i have arthritis and soft tissue and ligament damage. Physical Therapy is not working anymore and the phys therapist thinks i may still have a stress fracture, even after many MRIs and scans. I have tried everything under the sun of western medicine (incl. cortisone shots, anti inflammatory meds, phys ther, sports massage and deep tissue, a bone stimilator - kinda like electro stim for bone, ice, ice massage etc.) and it's persistently worsening.

I want to try accupuncture. I searched it and I didn't find too much that really related to releasing blockages in our systems, and i wanted to begin a new thread. Who has tried it? Has it worked? Do you know of some great success story that can make me overcome my *slight* apprehension?

any other ideas for my hurt foot?

    Love it!

My friend said this TODAY and I thought it fit:

"I have a slight headache right now so I'm using this acupressure thing where I have to press a pressure point in my hand. But now my hand just hurts o_o"

Do it. I've had it for carpal tunnel and lower back pain. It doesn't hurt; the worst you feel is a tingly electrical zing. I like to put acupuncture this way: one billion chinese people can't be wrong.

A close friend of mine is an acupuncturist, and she's been treating me for several months. I highly recommend it -- it has worked wonders for me -- and wish you the best of luck.

Monarch, is there a specific thing i should look for in an acupuncturist? are there different types for different ailments? i feel so uneducated on the topic of alternative medicine.

I felt really, really happy when I found an acupuncturist who was also an MD; the woman knew her medicine, both Western and Eastern. I have only been to acupuncturists who are or work in conjunction with doctors; that's just my personal preference, but since you're new to alternative therapies it will probably put you more at ease, too. It is a little weird but then you feel better and are happy.

I don't think there are specialists, since Eastern medicine doesn't really work that way, but I guess you never know.
