I read some place that if you use roll-on deodorant on the places you shave, you won't get those bumps or ingrown hair. Haven't tried it yet...but it just might work![]()
Do a serach on razor bumps, bikini line- the topic has been discussed in several threads.
I feel for you, I'm in the same boat, fighting bumps is a neverending battle for me.
Deoderant works for me, though mine have never been bad. Good luck!
I believe you Dottie and you have my support

Clear deodorant. I haven't used it, but there is a bikini product that you can get at the pharmacy.
I have never had an issue with it. I always use a sharp razer or get waxed. I shave daily and change the razer once a week or so. I use a Venus razer and have never had any issues with bumps or ingrown hairs. I also always shave my bikini area after washing/conditioning my hair, washing my body, and shaving all other areas. I read that this helps soften your bikini hair before shaving, since your bikini area benefits from the warm water/steam.
Maybe try shaving with a new razer as much as possible. I have also tried Bikini Zone which is supposed to help with bikini bumps. It was a free sample, and since I didn't have much an issue, I didn't notice much of a help. But it may be helpful.
Good luck!
Up until now, most products for ingrown hairs have usually had alcohol in them. Alcohol is really bad for your skin because it dries it out and can actually make it worse. I've been using a product from The Art of Shaving that's made for men. It's called Ingrown Hair Night Cream. It works amazingly well! It does smell a little manly though, but if you use it at home, who cares. It's also natural and it's a cream that absorbs in, not a gel that leaves a film on your skin like bikini-zone. After using it I didn't get a single ingrown hair!

I've also noticed that I've been getting a better and better shave the more I use it. I LOVE this stuff!! I also use the pre-shave oil before I apply shaving cream to help the razor glide over smoother.
You could probably find it on eBay for cheaper, but hell, this stuff works so well, I'd pay full price. I don't think I could live without it!
bikini zone gel. wait about 20 minutes after you shower though, otherwise it will irritate your skin. also, keep everything lubed up if you're shaving. i use soap and shaving cream.
i just saw this thread a little while ago and i wanted to say thanx to all of u who left posts.....very helpful and works very well.........lifesavers lol......thanx
getting razor burn sux. i have the most sensitive bikini line...like to the point that it looks like i have some sort of disease - not a great confidence builder and i'm pretty sure guys aren't into the red, irritatted and possibly contagious look.
so far i have tried everything - bikini zone, doesn't work for me - neosporin and baby powder, nope - tons of lotion, very bad idea - deoderant, still not sure how to properly apply it...i am now experimenting with neosporin then dove deoderant for sensitive skin and fragrance free moisturizer for sensitive skin. i'll try to remember to keep you updated. lst time i checked it seems to be working. :o)
Preperation H
This takes swelling from those large hemroids,
so how well do you think it will work for tiny little bumps??? I work in medical so I know this works.
Using conditioner under sensitive skin shaving gel has been the best, but some of us will suffer no matter what![]()
Tend skin...as mentioned in other threads, or the aspirin toner, which is very similar. It exfoliates the skin so the hair that is trapped under the skin can get out, and helps with any swelling/pain. No matter what you shave with, if the shave is really close it will lead to ingrowns. Continual exfoliation with aspirin type stuff is the only thing that has worked for me, and I get some pretty bad ingrowns! When your sore from continual shaving, Tend skin/aspirin based stuff really do give relief very quickly.
One thing you might consider if you shave (and not just bikini, but anywhere) is cryogenically treated razors. I bought a pack of them from this site: http://www.greatrazors.com. The packs are about $3-4 more than what you would pay at the store, but the cryogenic treatment makes them last about three times as long. So if a blade ordinarily lasts you a week, it would last you 3-4 weeks with the same quality in edge. Definitely a money-saver. I've ordered from them and received my blades in a short time and found it to be a good quality product. My hair is actually quite light, so one blade would last me about a month, and a 12-pack would last a year.

Try using Ella Bache's "cream intex no.2" for the first few days after waxing or shaving. It works for me.
