I heard that it keeps getting delayed due to lack of beta testers.

"You want me to stick my penis into what?!"
^^one of the comments from the page. That thing is stupid and wont prevent shit. Besides, if he cut himself on the inside and has some disease he can possibly give it to you as he pulls out.

AHHHH I didn't even think of that when I read it. Just how stupid an idea it was with too many faults to be plausable. That's a good one.

This seems to be equally effective:

^ I worked in home security. Something like 60% of the time, an owners gun is used against them.

Someone that is trained to use a gun and knows what they are doing? No.

It's kind of hard to do bodily harm when your attacker is bent over, bleeding or in a worse case scenario dead on the floor.

These days ( since 9-11 ) the process to getting and owning a gun is time consuming, invasive and thorough. If you purchase through a reputable dealer. Of course I am speaking of the states. I know in Cali it is terribly difficult if not illegal to own guns.

I'd really like to know where you got those numbers from. Just out of curiosity.

Working in home security, as I said. Those were the statistics from our reports each year.

And how many people do you know who own guns and are actually trained in them?

My mother owns one and forgets how to unlock the safety. *sigh*

All I know is this is not a rape prevention device... It's a rape revenge device, equally as good in my opinion to any bastard to assault a woman but it wont make her not relive the trauma and be hurt by it.

Everyone I know goes to the range. I myself hold yearly memberships.

I go to rifle shows, antique gun shows and know a multitude of people ( men and women )
    that are experienced shootists.

Then again, I hang out with a lot of military folk too.

Instead of rolling your eyes and sighing, why don't you TEACH your mother how to use her gun. That would make her a great deal safer then if she wont, you can encourage her to get rid of it. As obviously it's not doing her any good and it's dangerous for an untrained individual to even handle a gun.

I'm sure you would like that.

So wait, you're telling me the rapist wouldn't notice this thing hanging out of a woman's vagina? That thing doesn't look too small, it can't be comfortable walking around with that thing stuck in there all day. Plus, what if she has to pee? Does she have to take it off every time?

apparently blake things we pee out of the same hole we have sex in.

I'm not trained in a gun, either. I never claimed to be. She won't get rid of it and damned if I'll train her. I just chose not to own a gun.

Looks to me like whoever designed that product didn't do one iota of research!

To determine how incapacitating that would be, some test subjects would have to have it used on them. Good luck finding volunteers for that! To be effective (and avoid having the rape victim killed in retaliation) it would have to slow the attacker down enough for her to get away, or stop him outright.

I don't know enough about the effects of injury to the penis to even guess at its effectivness...

I don't know...I don't think it's a flawless design or anything, but I like the direction of the thinking.

    ^ me too.

edit: even though the woman would still be technically raped both physically and emotionally it's still got to be less physically/emotionally damaging than having the guy continue with the rape rather than stop after the first insertion.

Would the guy kill her? I don't know, but I do think that this has to hurt like a bitch and would incapacitate the man at least for a little while.

As far as more than one perpetrator....it wouldn't stop more than one attacker, but you'd think that the first asshole would be making a lot of noise at that point and hopefully the woman could get away or try to fend of the remaining guy(s)

What about plan old female condoms? Won't prevent rape... but I'd feel a lot beter about it if it was protected and I was less likely to catch anything. I've also thought about telling the guy I have AIDS. He might do it anyways... but it would freak him out at least?

I'd be afraid to use it... the guy would probably just use whatever weapon he had on you out of anger.

I think if you tell someone you have HIV would anger him and kill you for that. I don't know.

This is really troublesome...and raping someone is not something I could imagine myself doing... but like if it would REALLY kill the mood if I was getting into it with a girl and she was like "Wait wait.. let me remove this sheeth of razor blades from my vagina...did you bring a condom baby?"

Yea... that would be a no sex scenario.
And don't say "Well if she's looking for a sexual encounter, she wont wear it" then the device becomes completely pointless and novelty at best. Which is what I fear...that this will become objectified, humored, and sit on some chicks mantel sparking conversation and humor while someone out there is crying because not even a device like that helps her sleep at night, cause she doesn't want revenge, she just didn't want it to happen.

    Sick Sick Sick Sick.

Imagine the news... SERIOUSLY... "Woman raped, Rapist penis had to be removed from inside the woman due to alleged "Prevention Device"

Suddenly there will be sympathy for the rapist. Fucking inexcusable.

Big Picture People. Rape's evil, but this just makes it more evil. I mean charges could be filed against her if the court decides it wasn't a rape!

All it does is pours salt into a wound that can only be healed by education, intelligence, and hope...but rape, like a scar, will never go away. icky.

I don't have a specific example, just a vague recollection of a case where the guy was let off because the woman he raped asked him to wear a condom. He complied, and her asking him to wear a condom was (mis)construed as her giving consent.

I think wearing a female condom would provide a similar argument.

This reminds me of the razored-corks that Vietnamese hookers would use on GIs. The Viet Cong were hard right down to the women.
    I'm a firm believer in a shank as a rape-prevention device.

PS Much misuse of handguns comes from improper storage & theft. If you own a gun you're also obligated to lock it up or hide it well.
