    Default Movie: An Inconvenient Truth

Has anyone seen this movie? Im sorta scared to see it because it talks about how the world is basically falling apart and we'll all be there when it does.
Here is the trailer for it. What are your thoughts on this subject or is this another movie to freak people out and make money?

I saw it and enjoyed it. My fiance and I had interesting conversations about it afterward. I'm not sure about the money-making aspect since even in LA it's only playing at a few theatres.

Know what you're in for before you go: 1) Gore is preaching to the choir; the information he presents has been in the scientific community for years and anyone who doesn't believe it won't believe it after the movie either. 2) He makes a few half-hearted slaps at Bush, so if you're a die-hard Bushie you won't enjoy it. 3) It's slow moving in a scientific lecture kinda way. There are some stunning visuals, but most of it is graphs and charts taken from Gore's lectures on the subject. On screen, it remains a lecture. 4) He does offer some possibilities for change at the end, but after the whole-sale destruction of the rest of the film, it doesn't feel very optimistic.

I say, see it for the information. And don't get freaked, get motivated.

The movie is a Powerpoint slideshow. I'll leave it to others to refute the notion that global warming is a human industry-caused phenomenon vs. a natural trend (which I don't believe, but whatever, because most people on SW have already formed an opinion that they won't change, facts or no facts aside).

I saw it today and learned a few new things. I found some of the images very disturbing to say the least. The part about the polar bear was really sad too. I had already started to take steps to do my part but would like to take this moment to encourage everyone else out there to do something as well.

TM, I doubt very strongly that Al Gore and the film's distributors plan to make any money off of this movie (unless there's some solar/wind power/hybrid car conspiracy backing it).

As far as the causes or natural path of global warming, we may have differing beliefs, but really, using tons and tons of fossil fuels and other natural resources is bad in so many ways you can pretty much pick your reason for changing our daily practices.

There is a movie coming out called "The Death of the Electric Car." It looks like it is going to be very interesting also.

That's good, lol. And don't forget, chlorine in the drinking water will rob a man of his essence, too...
