Take her out to dinner... tell her you have something to say. There's really nothing that can make it any easier.

Don't keep it from her. I lied to my parents for two years. I always said I worked at Hooters, and that was bad enough for them. I finally told them the truth and they were a little upset, but parents will always love you even if you were to be a hooker or a priest!

I told my Mom prior to my dancing. She was and still is very supportive, I think because I told her I wanted to do it, and that I did not lie about it. Where else can you say your going with a rhinestone collar and face full of makeup? LOL My logic was better to hear it from me then....."Hey, was that your kid I saw swingin around the pole this weekend?"
If you talk about it, you should be able to get a good feel for her opinions. This of course worked for me, but not for everyone. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

thank you lots for the feedback *i feel loved*
my mom is abit tricky sometimes... on one hand shes like "id like to see you do somehting else but if you want to" and some other times she is like NO!!! (she once said that she would do it if she had the body....she used to be a model in the 70s)

    yeah!

also, im really into the art of exotic dance (ive danced since i was 3...ballet/latin/belly) and i love the atmosphere in the clubs ive been to : )

    thanks again ladies!!!

Just fair warning since you mentioned Deja Vu... you REALLY don't want to work there. Find a club that isn't owned by Deja Vu. They treat their dancers like shit, and they'll take all your money. You might as well work for a street pimp.

Well, my mom was encouraging. She doesn't like it, but she's always there to offer advice and support in any way she can.

HOnestly, I wouldn't say anthing...at first. You dont' even know if you're going to be a dancer for very long. Yea, the amatuer night was cool but what about the long nights/shifts after that??? What about those nights when you get so fed up with low dollar amount nights?

All I'm saying is if you dont' plan on doing this for a while, what is the point in hurting your mom. I dont' plan on telling my mom until I can show her how much better off I am at dancing vs. a regular job (ie. car and house, and phat bank account lol)

Oh yea, and Deja Vu's in MI are pretty gross I hear.

You and everybody else. There is no money here, it's very expensive just to live, and the competition is obscene. I would not recommend moving here at all.
