    Default Nail Questions

I'm hoping one of you ladies can help me because I am completely ignorant when it comes to getting my nails done. I used to get acrilliacs (sic) with a french manicure. A couple of weeks ago I asked the person doing my nails the difference between a pink and white and a french manicure. I didn't understand what he told me so I just got the pink and white done. It looks exactly like a french manicure so I'm just wondering why I paid an extra $10 for it?

Hmm, is the pink & white where they use pink and white colored acrylics to do your nails? It's not painted on your nails, it's actually the true color of the acrylic. They use the pink acrylic on your nail bed, and the white acrylic on the tip.

I used to get acrylics and would have this done. You don't have to worry about the polish, you just slap on a clear coat and you're ready to go.

Down here those are called solar nails, I think what she is talking about ( pink and white ) is a white tip with pale pink polish over the acrylic base nail.

Here pink and whites are all they do if you want the 'french manicure' look. They're more expensive than the clear tips. The only place you can get the french manicure is on your toesies or if you don't get tips

A true Pink and White manicure is what KittyKat said, Pink Acrylic (powder), over a white tip, it can be done over a regular tip, either way they are supossed to cover the tip again with white powder. Some techs are lazy, and will try to get away with not doing the white powder over a White tip, but it SHOULD be done.

Pale pink polish(the one that looks red in the bottle, like "lollipop juice" over a white tip, or over a regular tip/nail and then white on the botton, is usually referred to as an "American" manicure.

A true pink and white manicure, is sometimes harder to detect on a lighter skinned person. It stands on more so on Black women etc, due to the contrast.

Also, when you have a color on the tip, and then a clear, or lighter color on the base(Neon pink is popular), it's usually referred to as a "Tropical" manicure.

Yeah I've done black and white and black tipped before. Black tipped, even though it chips, works much better because black and white turns blue under blacklight and isn't as visible in my nails. Blah.
