My middle brother, who just turned 14, has been visiting me for the past week. It was his first time on an airplane, his first time out of town without his parents, and his first time in California. In the past week, we have:
- Watched two seasons of "Arrested Development" on DVD.
- Been to San Francisco and back.
- Been all over Chinatown in L.A. and Chinatown in San Fran.
- Hiked to the top and bottom of Runyon Canyon.
- Been to Zuma Beach, Pismo Beach, and Santa Barbara.
- Spent a day at Universal Studios.
- Eaten pizza, salads, sushi, Mexican, Chinese, and Thai.
- Watched the Dodgers kick some ass.
- Gotten drunk together. (oops)
- Covered every star and square on Hollywood Blvd.
- Been shopping in Los Feliz.
- Ridden choppers up and down Venice Beach.
- Ridden choppers around Santa Barbara.
- Said everything about our mother and other brothers that we can't say at home.
And that's just an overview. I'm completely exhausted. Today he's supposed to leave; we were going to wake up early this morning and hike up near the Hollywood sign. So I got up at six, after insufficient sleep, and got dressed... and the little fucker won't wake up. I've been shaking him and hollering his name for hours and he just will not wake up. So it looks like we may miss that hike. And I could've been sleeping too for the past three and a half hours. Argh.
It's been a great visit, but I'll be happy to put him on that plane, clean my house again (it looks like a teenage boy has been in it all week), and chill the fuck out for awhile. Whew!
Of course I can only chill out for a little bit because I'm completely out of money again after all that...
