Coppertone Endless Summer works well for me. Takes a bit to dry, but it shows up quick, so you can see where you've missed. Wear gloves to avoid tinted nails.
Some girls will say Mystic. I tried it, but it didn't go on evenly, didn't last long enough, was too damn expensive and (if you're in a nude club) gives you a wicked butt crack line.

I really like Neutrogena's MicroMist spray tan. It doesn't smell TOO bad, provides a nice color, and is very easy to use. I do rub it in, but it still cuts the application time in half.

I really hate applying regular self tanning lotion. However, I like the MicroMist, as well as the daily lotions, like Jergens.

California Tan makes an odor neutralizing spray to help get rid of the horrible smell, it works pretty good.

Personally I just can't do the sunless tan anymore, I just can't stand the smell, I think I'm sensitive to it, because I can smell it forever after I use it.

Check out the site, iamtan.com. I see the company Fusion has come out w/a new spray tan product that looks interesting, on sephora.com. I use the Neutrogena spray, the daily lotion, & I have some Coppertone dark oil free. I've heard a lot of good things about, it's called Sun. It's in a white bottle w/orange letters, & expensive. Ulta has, & sometimes QVC has good deals on it. It comes in a spray bottle & lotion. Self tanners can be tricky, but they seem like they're getting better/easier to apply.

Mystic Tan was a disaster for me. I gave it a couple of tries, but ended up spotted and streaked both times. I have not had much luck with sunless tanners, as I am very fair and the slightest goof-up is extremely obvious.

I have been using two different gradual tanning lotions from bath and body works that provide a gradually deeper tan, without the risk of major mess ups and streaks.

Glow and Steady, and Breathe Delight 24/7 gradual tanning lotion (this one doesn't have the sunless tan stink AT all.)

I have tried just about every goddamn self tanner out there. I'm pale, Irish and I bruise and burn easily.

Mystic Tan is expensive, yes, but it's good for when you need a dark tan really fast, like for photo shoots. It doesn't last that long and it was uneven sometimes. Not really worth doing all the time, IMO.

I like Aveda self tanner. It's about $17 and it smells GOOD. Very subtle though. If you layer it over the course of a few days, it's a really natural non-orangey glow.

I also like Fake Bake Airbrush spray ($30). You can get it at Sephora or Ulta, probably some other stores, but I live in LA and haven't seen it anywhere else. The foam is good too, but a little harder to use than the spray. It goes on dark and lightens up a bit when you shower. No orange anything. It's almost a pinkish brown, very natural.

The cheapest one I've found is Banana Boat. It's not as dark as I would hope, but it's okay and not orangey. Not the best, though.

    BAD ones I've tried are:

Ban De Soleil (peels off in big strips, especially in the bathtub or pool - ew)

    Neutrogena (super orange)

Lancome (have to wait a long time for it to dry and it's also pretty orangey)

Have you tried any of the gradual tanners? It's easier to avoid dramatic lines and streaks this way. I'm going to try a professional spray tan soon, though, just to see how it works.

When you apply self tanner lotion, do you have someone apply it to your back? How bout with the spray one too?

Believe it or not, Neutrogena makes a prtty good airbrush tanner that is reasonably priced...They all have that burned skin smell. It is kind of drying too but it does give you good color!

I'm sorry, but don't say anything to them. You sound desperate (I'll change, I'll change, just tell me what!).

Go in with confidence. Go in how you are and KNOW that you look great. If you go in all squirrely about the way you look, etc, they'll pick up on that. That's not what grabs customers, either.

Love the skin you're in and you'll do fine. If you would like to try the tanners, then do so...but don't go into the interview, "I know I'm pale, but if you hire me I will get a tan, I swear. I will tan, I'm working on it." Just don't stress about it.

I like the Jergens "build a tan" lotion. It goes on well, and my tan builds up by the day as opposed to being lighter one day and gobsmacking tan the next.

I think the Banana Boat is a gradual tanner, and I use it WITH the spray to even it out. I don't like to use so much of a product and not see a result right away. I like to get as much color as I can for my money.

i just started using the jergens natural glow lotion and so far I really like it. I'm extremely fair and the jergens is nice because its not streaky. The smell is kinda annoying though, but it did go away after about 30 mins or so and it wasn't as strong as other ones I have tried.

Coppertone Endless Summer and Bain de Soleil are my faves.

I divide my body into sections and really take my time rubbing it in. Afterwards, wash your hands. Stand/sit around naked for a good hour before putting on your clothes, just to be safe.

Otherwise, keep your skin moisturized. Jergens Natural Body Glow or whatever it's called is a good idea. Dont take long 'hot' showers. And always put on lotion after showering. + Drink water every day.

As long as your skin looks healthy and glowing, a fake ass tan wont matter as much!

I really like the neutrogena micro mist too. It doesnt have the most pleasant smell but you dont have to rub it in and its easy to spray all over your back and everything.
