I seem to remember reading somewhere on a thread but looked & looked and couldn't find it. I was sitting home today and got another one of those annoying phone calls that was out of area, didn't have a name on the caller id. When I answered it was one of those recorded messages. What it said was something about me being a preferred card member and this was my big chance to get a lower interest rate on my credit card, but it didn't what credit card, is just said your credit card. It also was saying something to the fact that I needed to act now, this was my last chance and if I don't it would expire or something, can't remember all of it. Then it said to sign up or activate your low interest rate press 1, to never receive a call or be taken off our list please press 2. For a second there I almost pressed 2 but had that really weird feeling about it so I just hung up.
I thought about it for a minute & could've sworn I read something on here about someone getting your information from your phone by you pressing a button like that and they get your identity or something. I decided to call back the number to see what it said when it answered, I called back within 5 minutes and a recording said this number is disconnected. I have no idea what that was about but it sounds like a scam to me. Does anyone know what this is or has anyone gotten a similar call? If you haven't, just hang up because I think it's some new type of scam. What do you all think? Sorry, this is long!
