    Default High Calibre Cocktails

Well since we have the drunken stupidity thread. I figured we needed to have the some recipes for the drinks that make you stupid.

I don’t think I have to tell anyone that I’m much better behind a bar than in front of it. At most of my friends and even families parties I often end up behind the bar. I love mixing the drinks. I also have a good ear, so I’m a natural bartender.

Now I’ve posted the Blue lagoon and my Lose Your Innocence Blue Lagoon before. So I’m going to start of with a drink that easily tops them.

The Venerable Long Island Ice Tea

    1 shot vodka
    1 shot gin
    1 shot light rum
    1 shot tequila
    1 shot lemon juice
    1 teaspoon superfine sugar
    4 shots cola
    2 tablespoons 151 rum

In a shaker half filled with ice cubes, combine the vodka, gin light rum, tequila, lemon juice and sugar. Shake well and strain into a mixing glass almost filled with ice cubes. Add the cola and stir well. Add the 151-do not stir. Sip this drink over a long period-stay away from open flame! 151 will catch fire and burns with a blue flame.

I have only ever had about a quarter of one of these. I know this version is actually only served with a two drink maximum. It has been known to put strong drinkers completely under.

If you ever see this drink at a cocktail bar, I can guarantee it will almost never be this version. I’ve checked a few times in Australia. So kids go knock your socks off, and don’t PWI.

I’d love to see if anyone can find me a Mai Tai or Zombie recipe I’d appreciate it. I know both those drinks are this calibre.

So lets get posting, fav drinks, or high calibre.

Forget the mixed drinks. I'm Irish/Cherokee and a Marine Corps brat. Me, Jim, Jack, and Johnny are good friends... I have em alone and chase with Dr. Pepper.

The amazing thing about Long Island Ice Tea is that even with all those shots in it, if it's made right, it hardly even tastes like you are drinking alcohol....

This is why they are so dangerous! High calibre drinks that taste like soda are *not* a good thing, not at all...

And then you get pissed that the bartender cut you off after three of them.

    "I only had three, WTF?"

Then you stand up off you bar seat and it smacks you like a sledgehammer.

Its not the number of drinks you had - its the amount of alcohol.

A good Long Island ice tea (LIIT), like I make, tastes a hell of a lot like ice tea. So much so that I often put a lemon wedge on the side just for irony.

I have a good friend, that can down 3 slabs of Steinlager and still hold a cohearant conversation. I gave him 2 LIIT and he start to stumble. He wanted a third, and was zonked out 1/2 way through.

That same night I was making LIITs for everyone else as well and by the time everyone had had their second they couldn't move. We actually ended up having a big sleepover. I stayed sober becuse I knew the drinks I was making were of High Calibre, and they either needed someone to clean up the mess or keep them from doing something stupid. At least a LITT tends to paralyze the drinker, to the point they can't do anything.

I have actually heard of a HI-Tea but not really sure about it, should be a variation of the Long Island ice tea.

I only ever drink streight when I have a cold, and then it is only 1 or two shots. Usually Jack Daniels. Best thing for clearing out sinus congestion.

I think I'll stick to the tending side of the bar though. I almost s*** myself when my SO picked up more lemonaid the other night. I figure I'm done with blue lagoons for a long while.
