another "has anybody tried it" thread- garnier sleek and shine products?

so, have any of you tried the garnier sleek and shine products? they apparently have a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, serum and leave in conditioner. did they work? did they make your hair greasy and nasty? did you have to use the whole line of products?

LOVE LOVE LOVE garnier. I use the long n strong line, as my hair is fine and got too oily from sleek and shine. The shampoo, conditioner, and leave in are wonderful.

I know this stuff is loaded with silicones, which will seal the outer cuticle and make hair shiney and usually kinda flat. The down side is silicones won't wash off without a harsh clairifying shampoo. So they sit on your hair and keep the moisturizers in your cond. from penetrating. I used to use All-Soft and Sleek-Look all the time, my hair looked great for a while, but ended up a dried, fried mess. I had to have my hair, which was below my butt, cut off to almost chin length. Since then I'll only use 'cone free, nearly free, or water soluble cones only. Good stuff to try is Nexxus Therapy, Humectress and Keraphix, or Joico's K-Pac Shampoo and Treatment, or Regis' Olive Oil line (the mask is cone free, but the cond. has very small amount of cones'). I started on the Nexxus about 18 mos ago and within a week could tell a huge difference in my hair. Some people will have a withdraw period from cones because almost everything these days is loaded with them, but I didn't, my hair looked better immediately.

I hated the Garnier stuff, too greast but light at the same time. I looooooove the Pantene Restoratives though.

I have thick, waist length blonde hair. It is fine in texture and has been lightened to the paler shade of blonde it would be if I got to spend time outdoors instead of being inside all the time. If I let it dry naturally, it has a slight wave, but refuses all efforts to curl it. I don't use heat on my hair except for a blowdry once every two months. All that just to give you a comparison to your own hair and how it may respond. I use the sleek and shine conditioner and shampoo and love it and the smell. However, I use various brands of deep conditioners one to two times a week as well as other brands of leave in conditioners 2-3 times a week. Some co-workers recently asked me to let my hair down so they could touch it. (Sorta creepy) They said it was as soft as feathers. (Really funny)

I like the sleek and shine leave in conditioner to use occasionally. If I use it everyday, it dries my hair a little. Out of drugstore conditioner, Garnier and Dove are my favorites. I heard Pantene restoratives was good also but have never tried it.

Garnier also leaves wax like build up in your hair as well. My hair is already lacking body, I dont need that

I use the serum to get rid of frizz sometimes. It works all right but certainly nothing to pee your pants over. It smells amazing, but you have to use it sparingly (VERY sparingly... the pump shoots out about three times more than you need, I shake my hand off in the sink to get rid of the excess) It won't perform the miracles shown on the bottle but it does add a bit of shine and helps control frizz (flyaway-frizz, not 80s perm frizz) I'd buy it again if it was on sale (I got it in some 3-for-5 deal) but it's not really an essential. I only use it once in a while.

I think Garnier's anti-dandruff shampoo is kickass, though... It never damaged my colour and it smells amazing. Hooray!

I am NOT a fan of the garnier products at all. I used their shampoo and condit a long time ago and thought it left my hair flat and a bit greasy (it's been awhile though, I just remember not buying it again,) and then their hair dye SUCKS really bad, and while they're gel was okay-- it wasn't great and left a lot of buildup.

I use the long and strong on my kids hair, kills the fly aways and the frizz. thought the shampoo and conditioner kills the body that i want in my hair. I use the VO5 heat activated shampoo and conditioner, works well for me. Just remember that everyone's hair is different and what works for me might not work for you.

I liked the garnier products that I have used. I am using Matrix Biolage right now and I think I may have liked the Garnier Long and Strong just as much, maybe even better. My hair seemed really healthy and not as prone to breakage, and it's super cheap. I have hair that is almost to my waist so having manageable, healthy hair is very important to me. I may try the Sleek and Shine next. Does anyone have recommendations for strengthening shampoo/conditioner that will leave my hair really soft? Any rave reviews?

I use the sleek and shine serum sometimes, and I like it. It makes my hair shiny & smooth when I straighten it.

My hair is like totally anti-garnier. Their gels make mine FRIZZ. How the hell does gel make hair frizz?
