    Default Veet Is The Debbil.

So I decided to try Veet, since I never have, and I heard it was better than Nair. It's getting harder and harder to shave my legs, so I figured I'd find an easier way, thinking Veet was it. WRONG! That stuff burns like hell. Don't get me wrong, it works--very well. But, it feels like your skin is frying right off with the hair.

Oh--It's even worse when you have a couple of mosquito bites on your legs. Also, I have Eczema on the middle finger of my right hand. That adds a real nice touch, too.

If you can handle the burning, you'll have nice smooth legs in 3 minutes, but damn. I can't do that to myself again.

The same night I got the Veet, I got the new Intuition razor (that lathers and all that). Has anyone used that? I haven't tried it yet, but I will be soon.

Aww, your poor skin! Yeah, I think depilaroty creams will never really improve. All they're good for is vengeance upon a particulary mean camp counselor (replace contents of shampoo bottle with Nair) when you're in junior high. Not that I had anything to do with that . . .

As far as I know, depilatories don't offer you any advantage over shaving other than the absence of a razor. The hair still grows back just as thick, since it's still essentially breaking it off at the surface, unlike waxing where it does pull it out from a deeper epidermal layer. Plus all that you said about the ouch and the burning.

I stick with my Venus and a Mach 3. Hope your bits feel better soon!

    Really?

Nair never, ever worked, so I tried Veet (with the fake razor thingie) and actually used it for a few bottles. Worked fine, never burned- just switched cos it was expensive and shaving is a bit easier at times.

I understand the bites getting burned though... I once, in desparation, used Veet on the upper part of my hoohoo and- well it seeped it's way into the tiny nicks I'd had from shaving- thus turning my kitty into a lighter version of Michael Jackson's face. Not so pretty.

I never tried Veet...but YEARS ago when I tried Nair...ended up with some nice, sexy looking chemical burns up both legs. Not fun. I stay away from those. LOL Sorry to hear that you had the same bad experience.

I tried the Intuition Razor. It was ok. I wasn't thrilled with it. The "foamy" stuff wears off before the razor does (I can use my razors several times before tossing it). And, don't leave it in the shower...which makes the foamy stuff disappear even faster. Also, once it wears down just a tiny bit, it doesn't work...soooooo...it was just cheaper to stick with my Mach3 and my Aveeno shaving gel.

Agh Nair. I remember that shit from when I was 14ish.

I always thought it smelled kinda like perm solution though. I never thought to try other things like it., as in Veet etc.

Once though, my ex and I were sitting around and I had bought that Nads crap from the tv. So I didn't want to try it first on me., and asked if I could try it first on him. He's trying to look all touch so he said " oh yah go ahead" .. Where do I attempt this at ..Oh his balls. because he hated shaving them., and trimming was the only option.. he wanted smooth balls I guess. So we put that nads stuff on his nads. It would fucking come off! I mean I was sitting there doing exactly what the directions said and yet the wax was sticking to his fucking balls and not I repeat not coming off. he was in so much pain. So he gets in the shower..gets the stuff off of him., for whatever reason allows me to put nair on him and it chemically burned his balls.

thats my nair story. With the fact I hate this man now., I find it hilarious

Intuition is OK, for short periods of time. I always switch up my razor brand every so often. Right now though, Venus is doing the best.

You know what helped me when I'd use similar products? Rubbing vaseline into my skin to kind of protect the skin but still let the nasty stuff get at the hair. It prevented those burnt red spots.

Veet and Nair leave me with nice red blotches everywhere and hell it doesnt even take the hair off.

The Intuition razor works like shit IMO. It sucks for shaving your knees and it just doesnt do that great of a job. I love Venus and Extreme 3.

I bought the intuition razor bc it was recommended to me..and I HATED it. Not only does the ridiculous handle make it impossible to hold, and it kept slipping out of my wet soapy hands, but I've never been cut more severely by a razor in my life. I gave it to my sister and she had the same experience. Oh and it didn't even give me a good shave to make up for the big cuts! I will stick with my mach 3 turbo..and my sister sticks with her venus. Supposedly they are like the same thing except a men's and women's version..but personally I like the mach 3 better.. smaller razor head..and an easier to hold handle w better grip. Oh and closer shave..heh

Just yesterday I accidentally bought a tube of Veet (for the body) thinking I was buying a depilatory I could use on my face. I thought what the hell and used it on my legs. It took the whole tube to do my legs and while I didn't get any chemical burns, it didn't feel good . . . I'm ok using depilatories on small areas, and used to use one regularly on my bikini line, but yeah, this was an unsettling experience.

Im not the only one! It sliced my legs to shit! And it doesnt even give a good even shave.. nevermind the fact the thing is rusty after one shave so your constantly changing blades and its not like they're cheap either.

i used nair on my underarms once and it dissolved the skin. literally- i was missing the top layers of my skin in some places. i followed the directions exactly, too. it was horrible.

Luckily I didn't get any chemical burns, which is surprising because I have the most sensitive skin ever and when I used Nair years and years ago, I got them. But I will never use this Veet crap again. It was awful. The smoothness is not worth it.

That really sucks about the new Intuition. I had hopes it was good. I could've used a one-step kind of thing. Guess I'll either have to get a wet/dry shaver or I'll have to go back to letting the Husband shave my legs til this baby breaks out. Believe it or not, he's pretty good. But, I just like to do that type of thing myself.. LOL

I tried nair once to remove a tiny bit of hair on my face. It was for the face and for sensitive skin...I had a red bumpy mustache for days!!! And I agree on the intuition, total piece of poo. Also, the bic soliel like to slice me up a bit, GO VENUS!!!

Years ago I tried Nair. It felt like I had poured acid on my legs and burned the skin all off. Even after I washed it off it burned like hell. I had to wear tights to make my legs feel better and it was in the summer! I've never been willing to even try anything like that again after that experience!

All Nair ever did for me was make the hair seem coarser. No burning, but it made it impossible to get a close shave for days after I tried to shave the hair on my legs that it didn't even touch.

Wow, this totally mirrors my experience. I tried the Veet everywhere - and I do mean everywhere. I had serious chemical burns on my underarms, legs, and everywhere else where hair resides!! I had to get antibiotics and a special cream to prevent infection; and, it was in the summer. I thought that I was going to die, literally. I spent a lot of time with my arms stretched out like a frickin' bird in front of a fan. Ugghh. I agree with many of you that the Venus razor is the way to go!

i tried the intuition razor and, like the other girls, was pretty dissappointed. i like shaving with the venus razor and a rich, moisturizing hair conditioner best.

Ugh, I hate depilatories. One thing I think they're really good for is removing the peach fuzz on my upper lip, but other than that I can't use them.

I prefer waxing or shaving. Not with the Venus though-that razor gave me serious ingrowns/razor burn. I read somewhere that the deluxe razors actually cause ingrowns because they swipe over the hair too many times or something?

Jeez...I can't believe I am gonna post here...ah well, if anyone on the blue side ever notices, I'll just deny it or say the wife got my password or something.

Anyway, I use nair weekly and it works for me. I have been using it on the same area for like 15 years...when I first started, it burned bad and hurt like hell. So I used it again and it did it again. I think maybe the first 10 or so times, it was a horrible, horrible experience. Course, AFTER that, it got better. From that point on, it has worked great. (why did I keep using it when it burned, and hurt, and was a horrible experience? That's easy...I'm stupid.)

Over the years, it has gotten better. In the beginning, it was like 20 minutes to work. In the last 2-3 years, it only takes 4 minutes. And, after those first few times, the pain and burns went away (as long as you don't greatly exceed the application time.) It works a lot better than the specialized "male" product I am supposed to use.

*shrug* just thought Nair, as a product, would want a positive testimonial...even if it is from a evil blueballer.

Tee hee hee. Just out of curiosity, what is this "area" of which you speak, hmm? Or are we being deliberately vague?

    ------------------------------

Heh. guess it is somewhat vague?

I use it on my neck. I have a beard, so I do not shave. I could shave my neck but African American men who have very curly hair cannot shave without getting small bumps. Our hair is VERY curly and when a modern technology razor "lifts" the hair to cut it and it goes back below the skin, it curls upon continued growth and doesn't come out the pore. This creates a small bump in the area as the body deals with that issue. Nair (or some other cream) doesn't cause the bump, not sure why...

OK...WAY WAY more info than you wanted, I guess. but you asked.
