I'm sure I'll think of more when I'm a bit more lucid, but how's about "I've Never Been to Me" by, I think . . . Charlene? Does that ring a bell? (It was slightly redeemed - at least in in kitsch kred - when featured as a drag lip sync number in "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".)

And have I skimmed too carelessly, or am I correct that no one has yet mentioned "MacArthur Park"? That might put you over the top, Mr. Christopher.

Btw, Dylan Angel - HA! The VERY first song that sprung to mind when I read this thread title was "Party All the Time". What in God's name was Eddie thinking?

I have a majority of what has been mentioned here already, and I'm gonna download the few I havent heard. A few of your choices made me go "HEEEEEEEY!!! WTF" but everyone has different tastes. Keep the suggestions coming folks, and gracias.

btw yesterday I hit the bossman with Jack Wagner's "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" and followed it up with Queen's "Flash Gordon Theme", which I dont know the actual name of. FLASH!!! AAH-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! Chuckles were had by all.

All you need to do is check out Richard Cheese or Hayseed Dixie.

    They both have websites.

You will be glad you did

Sorry, couldn't resist. I never really got onto Elvis, but so many other people do it's hard to ignore the value I suppose, if you have a crowd that will go for it--like the race fans in town this weekend.

OK, enough about Elvis--we are getting off topic, here.

The topic being, the worst of cheese...

I cannot believe no one has mentioned one of the most vile, disgusting, and cheesiest songs in recorded history:

    "Live Without You" Michael Bolton
    Michael Bolton is just evil...

I was in the back of a police car once, under the influence of some hallucinogenic treats, and the cop was blaring Michael Bolton's version of "When A Man Loves A Woman". Mere words can not describe the agony I was in. That kind of torture should be illegal.

I almost forgot that JUST LAST NIGHT I heard a charming techno rendition of "Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry"! Has anyone else heard this?

My boss used to close out the bar by playing a version of "The Electric Slide" that went "boogywoogywoogy- It's electric!" He was so fricking funny.
How about "Final Countdown" by Europe? Horrible horrible synth riff! AAAAh!
I used to drive people up the wall by playing New Wave. (That would be a nice way to get pepped up before work. Ahem. Plugging for New Wave here.)

In my senior year of High School, the Band Director had the bright idea of converting the "Final Countdown" into a marching theme.

When we first heard it at halftime of the first football game, we were stunned. It was every bit as bad done by a marching band is it was originally by Europe.

Heh. My high school band did this as well, and they STILL do it, to this day. Gotta love it.

Hey, have you played "The Ding Dong Song" by Gunther and the Sunshine Girls? I am not sure where this came from but it is hilarious.

And I cannot believe I didn't think of this earlier -- well, it's because I think this is brilliant rather than awful:

Don't thank me, Mr. Chris. Knowing I've just turned you on to your new favorite band is enough for me.

My mom calls this stuff "marshmallow music" because it's soft, mushy, gooey, and overly sweet.
An older dancer at my club dances to it.

^^I've danced to most of the songs mentioned.

At least I was amused. I'd have to say the toughest songs to lap dance to are "Cracklin' Rosie" by Neil Diamond and,
"We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenders (sp?)

My current horrible favorite is Benny Mardones-- "Into the Night" (you know, "she's just sixteen years old/leave her alone/etc.")

If someone played that in a strip club I'd wet my pants.

Guess who's appearing at the nearby casino soon? AIR SUPPLY. I'd completely blocked them out. I tried to think of the ultimate horrid song by them, but gave up. They're all bad.

Somehow I have a perfect visual of a middle-aged, pathetically alcoholic, washed-out stripper stumbling around with half-closed eyes and smeared makeup, pouring her wrinkly, flabby old heart into Bette Midler's "The Rose".

Eyughhh, Rose, thanks for the visual!

Air Supply... My family has an ongoing thing about Hall & Oates. Yes, they REALLY suck, but my mother has this passionate hatred of Hall & Oates. If one of their songs comes on the radio, she turns into a raving screaming bitch for hours - it totally ruins her day. I don't think she hates anything in the world as much as she hates Hall & Oates.

So, one year I noticed they were playing in town on Mother's Day. I got on the computer and created these very convincing fake tickets, and gave them to her as her Mother's Day gift. Told her I was looking forward to spending time with her there. She completely short-circuited - she wanted to spend the time with me, but she couldn't sit through Hall & Oates! I waited about an hour before I told her it was a joke - first she was relieved, then furious.

    ^ lol "She's a maneater...". That's a sweet tune!

What about Irene Cara stuff from 'Fame'? I love that soundtrack, but have heard that other people think it's lame.
